Baton Rouge Area Vet Recomendations

Have a 2.5 year lab 60lbs from Y-Farms, we have always used Bocage Animal Hospital for all of our vet needs but my understanding they are no longer locally owned and also have a rotation of vets. Looking for a local vet who owns his or her facility and will be there to know our pup and wont be roatated in 6 months.

I used Azalea Lakes vet for years when I was in Baton Rouge.
Dr. Tara is great.

We’ve been pleased with Sherwood animal hospital

He is starting to slow down some, but Dr. Waguespack at the Siegen Lane animal clinic has been seeing my dogs for the past 25 years. No complaints. Never pushy on medication or test unless he really believes it is necessary.
Also big fan of Y-Farms. No dogs from there but we send each one to train there, and send them up there for boarding

First time i took my lab to him the heartworm test came back negative. Doc asked what I used for heartworms and I told him cattle ivermectin. He asked me a couple questions about dosage then said keep it up because he couldn't sell me anything that cheap.

For labs, Helouin's on Airline near Choctaw. They're huge fans of labs.

Heather Harkins has a mobile vet business and she's fantastic. So convenient and I fully trusted her to go into my home when I wasnt there to take care of my dog. The mobile fee wasnt all that much, either.

Prairieville Animal Hospital if you're in the southern area of Baton Rouge.

Dr. Heintz at Dutchtown. We drive extra for that group, they’ve done a great job with our hounds.

Third for Dr Wag - he was our vet several years ago when we lived in BR but always took a conservative approach (which was greatly appreciated) with our lab. Never pushy on tests or meds like others have suggested.
