It seems they have a large assortment of frozen dinners.. Which I haven't purchased any yet..

I did get the Chicken Salad with the cranberries and almonds.. Very good and cheap. The CS along with their Sour Dough Bread (toasted) is damn good..

They have a large assortment of potato chips that are cheap.. I did get a bag of Clancey's Sour Cream that tasted burned..

I also got a Mama Cozzi's fire wood Basil and Sausage pizza that wasn't bad.. The crust is the usual frozen pizza crust..

I did get some Hot Italian sausage that wasn't bad but I can't find the name brand.. It was really cheap so I figured not a big lose if it turned out bad..

Anything that stands out that you have purchased or recommend?

As someone that doesn't have any easy/close access to a Costco, their meats have been pretty reasonable compared to Publix. Also, I can usually find some good deals on greek yogurt there.

The Chocolate ice cream by Aldi....has 5 ingredients, no gums or preservatives

The crab and lobster dip is pretty good
The Artisan sourdough bread is good
Their sliced turkey is good
Theres a coconut "wine" that is delicious, tastes like a snowball almost.
The milk chocolate bars with the coconut flakes...legit good

My only gripe with Aldi is don't fall in love with a lot of their stuff.

Their selection rotates so you find something good for a few weeks and then it's gone forever.

Their prices are good, but the selection is limited and some of the more perishable veggies have a short shelf life. I got on frozen pizza and it was nothing special. I'd rather take a basic cheese pizza from Sams or Costco and doctor it up. The breads are decent, as are the cheeses and chips.

Lafayette here. It's just too far down a busy Ambassador Caffery PKWY (traffic and long lights) to make the savings worth the trip to get there.

Their knock off items just aren't as good as the original (Thin Wheats don't taste nearly as good as Wheat Thins and are in a smaller box, so virtually the same price as other stores.) Their hummus eats like a bad veg party dip.

Other items are mediocre as well, so there's no draw for me. Sometimes there are good deals on produce, but in the long run you get what you pay for. I have heard people on this board give praise to the salmon and other proteins.

I've never been but they are building one right down the street from me. So, "Following" as they say.

About 5-7 gigantic raw chicken breasts for $13. Mushrooms for less than $2.

Good quality and prices on dairy, nice cheese selection, their breads are good. Prices are great. Their “signature” salsas, or whatever they call it, are really good for jarred salsa. Chips, crackers too. They do a pretty good job at selling cheap stuff that doesn’t taste it.

It can be hit or miss. Like their meat can be good or full of gristle. Even the "waygu" cut.

Chips can be full of whole pieces or crushed. Their onion dip can have good flavor or can be just sour cream.

Their knock of cereals, etc are good.

Really is hit or miss, but constantly so at the same time. If you squeeze the chip bag softly you can tell what you will be getting inside. So you can squeeze a few. You can take the top off the dip and see thru the clear lining if it's going to be good or not.

At the same time there are many things that seem to always be on point and consistent for them.

Tldr...good enough you'll figure it out. As long as, you don't care. I'd buy meat for my own meal, but wouldn't to serve others. It's the Ross/Marshalls of grocery stores.

I second the Aldi's ice cream- we prefer the mint chocolate chip and it's better than any other we've found.

Jalapeno pimento cheese is great. The normal pimento is meh.

Compared to the crummy Safeway and family faire we have here, Aldi might as well be trader joes or central market.

Their nut selection is tops. I always keep a bag or two of their peanuts, almonds and cranberry mix in the car for when I get hungry on the road.

Their coconut wine is fantastic. Drink it chilled or pour over chocolate ice cream. Yum.
