I have spent a ton of money buying polos over the past few months, but only end up wearing a couple because of absolute garbage breathability.

Current favorite is a callaway opti-dri. it is just significantly more breathable than anything else I've bought and I only paid like $8 during a sale at academy.

Are these Peter Millar and other brands worth a try at those prices?
What is your current go-to polo?

These are tough to beat. There's a certain Johnnie-O material that I think is the absolute top, but not sure how that one is labeled.

Featherlite I think.

Anything with over 1% poly is no go for me. I have been a TASC homer for the last several years. Shirts breathe really well in both a breeze and dead heat and, it's a local company Louisiana company.

Some of those pga tour brand polos breathe pretty well. And they’re fairly cheap

It's almost impossible this time of year in south Louisiana to find anything remotely breathable. That said, Johnny O has some of the best ones I've encountered.

So all of them are 85-95% polyester. Then you have elastane, spandex, or something else making up the remainder.

It's obviously all plastic, but the elastane feels less plastic-y I guess? Just doesn't feel like it sticks to you.

My wife sells Smith & Quinn dresses in her store, and one day the rep was like hey does your husband wear golf polos? He sent me a couple of their lightweight ones and they are easily my favorite. They're 85/15 poly/elastane. Now I just flip through the ordering book and am like "Add these polos to the dress order, wife." Who knows how they'll hold up long term, but they are lightweight and don't wrinkle as bad as some other golf polos so I'm wearing the shite out of them right now.

Holderness and Bourne is the same blend, and they're regarded as one of the top golf polo brands.

One cheap poly/elastane shirt is the Puma Cloudmattr. They're more like 93/7 or something. They wrinkle quick if you don't get them out of the dryer still warm, but are fine otherwise.

For the record, I don't like Rhoback. They fit good, but they're spandex blend and stick to you bad when sweating.

Have never tried a Johnnie O

I used to take an extra shirt.

It’s so hot now, I’d have to change shorts too.

No shirt can overcome this heat. Some do better than others.

I would not recommend Peter millar or anything expensive in south la summers

You sweat so much it ruins expensive shirts with sweat and sunscreen

I just but on sale Calloway or the like just like you do

Wow, I have converted to all poly. It's the most comfortable material in history. I doubt I will buy anything cotton ever again, and my bamboo experience has not been great.

Johnnie-O Featherweight is where its at...

Regardless though.. a super humid day in S La.. No shirt on the planet will make you less moist than a ducks arse...

No lie i wish there were days where running shorts and sleeveless shirts were acceptable...

???

From their website on the Cloud Polo:
48% micro modal / 47% micro polyester / 5% elastane

All for supporting local, and will probably try one of these out, but they definitely got some poly in them.

I think you're going to have to go to Sid Mashburn to get a 100% cotton shirt being peddled as a golf polo...... And there's nothing wrong with dressing like Cashmere Keith. Sid Mashburn is really nice stuff, but he still looks a little hot out there in the dead of summer. Looks clean as shite during the cold weather tournaments.

I have been running my own experiment lately on the weekends. I’ll play Sat with any golf shirt (Footjoy, Callaway, Peter Millar, H&B) and then play Sun wearing a Duluth Trading “Armachillo” undershirt combined with a golf shirt.

I figure back-to-back days are usually pretty comparable with temperature and humidity.

Wearing the Armachillo undershirt just seems more breathable and comfortable even though it is an extra layer. I’m not sure what it is made of, but it feels better against the skin that most polo blends.

I'm cheap and just can't see paying $100 for a polo shirt that I'm going to sweat a ton in and ruin. Sam's had 8 performance golf polos for $9.00 a piece, made out of polyester and recycled polyester what ever the crap that is. They are comfortable and I bought all 8 for the price of 1 of those expensive ones. I also wear arm sleeves which believe it or not, help a ton in trying to keep cool. I also feel like I keep gold bond in business trying to keep swamp arse at bey.

This is where I am too-
I am constantly using my sleeve to wipe sweat away and basically staining all of my shirts. Better off finding a cheap, serviceable one and not being upset when it get ruined
