Haven’t seen this in more than a few years, but caught it on last night. Man, I don’t think there’s a movie that captures 80s, middle class America better than this. Only thing that would’ve hit home more if it would’ve been filmed around Geismer or Livingston. Great soundtrack as well.

Plant life, redneck family, young couple trying to make it, honky tonks, etc.

For your troubles….

The 80s middle class lived in trailers?

In the 80s people bought what they could afford and were happy with it. They didn’t have the opportunity to get in over their head in debt worried about the Jonses.

Definitely a time capsule.

Exactly. Bud should have never left Pam to go back to Sissy.

That scene was filmed in the city I grew up in.

I don’t know. Bud was never cut out to be a kept man, and even though Pam’s intentions seemed genuine it probably wouldn’t have lasted long. IMO.

More like white trash. Everything about this movie was genuinely trashy. It was a work of art. In its own way, Saturday Night Fever wasn't much different.

Both movies nailed that trashy culture.

Man, I saw this the other day, what a shitfest. Tony tries to rape Stephanie, and Annette gets straight gang raped.

Not sure how this movie was so popular.

It was released at the height of the disco era. Urban Cowboy was the transition from disco to country.

The soundtrack had a lot to do with it. It's one of the highest selling albums of all time.

And don’t forget, when Pam told Bud to go ahead and get Sissy back, she invited Bud to come back to her. Pam was written as the perfect woman.
