Sean Payton said right after the draft …

1) LSU’s Jayden Daniels was his #1 QB (Not the USC QB, who was actually ranked 3rd in his mind.. not #1).

2) Bo Nix was the #2 Ranked QB.

His talent evaluation skills and a little bit of luck… snagged him a Quality starting QB for the next 12 years.

Welp….. Sigh….

— The Saints have QBs Rattler and Shough by Comparison. Fukk Me !!

—- You wonder why I keep saying Saints will draft a QB with a Top 3 to 5 pick in the 2026 Draft !!

The Saints are Waaaaay Behind !!!

I was disappointed the Saints signed Carr, because I wanted to embrace the tank and be in a position to draft a guy like Daniels. This was post Brees and Payton. Such a dumb move.

Carr was good enough to win some games, but not great enough to win much more.

So what if they do? If Shough is no good, and we are first pick, then grab the top QB. Your stating this does not change the situation we were in with this 2025 draft. We played it based off of our draft spot and available players, and we came out with a QB they rated high and are hoping he pans out. That’s how drafts are played. I am lost as to your point with this post.

But this is where your systement falls apart. FANS want to tank; COACHES and PLAYERS do not. Stop projecting your desires onto football teams that do not think the same way. Yall are ridiculous with this bullshite

Not sure it's bs. Sometimes you have to be realistic as an organization and not spend like that. Stop kicking the can down the road. It was the perfect opportunity. Doesn't fully mean the team is purposely tanking. I just didn't agree with spending money on a QB like that given this roster and former coach. I know coaches and players don't see it this way, but ownership and people in charge should. It wouldn't even guarantee a top pick. Could have still be in the same position record, but at least the cap could have been improved.

I am a big believer in being bad for a couple of years to fully impove the future. It always depends upon the situation.

Rattler was a late round pick that showed potential and we have no idea what we are getting with Shough. Nobody thought Bo Nix would be a good NFL QB other than Payton. Or at least as good as he was last year.

Nobody should hate on Sean Payton, he’s the best coach the Saints have ever had and ever will have.

What Saints fans hate is how he exposed our limitations as “a franchise with no juice” as he famously said when asked for a reason for his resignation.

Saints fans hate that he tried multiple times before to leave the Saints, including he and Skylene’s less than flattering description of life in NOLA. When people like Sean Payton, Jim Mora, and the famous carjacking of Gayle can’t avoid the lawlessness of New Orleans it’s easy to see why we can’t expect to keep our elite assets long.

This is the more rational statement. Your original tank one is irrational fan drama. I agree with what you said here

Your reading comprehension needs to improve.

You ask what is my point ….
My point is written in the Title.

Payton ranked the QBs Correctly in the Draft when all the other “Experts” were wrong !!

I’m a person who lives in reality.

You apparently can’t see the Saints for who they truly are…. One of the worst teams, if not THE worst team in the league…

Just look…. It’s written everywhere in sports media and airwaves traffic.

But there’s hope:

We can now rebuild… like we should have done before Loomis paid tens of millions to Carr… forestalling the rebuild.

They shouldn’t have wasted the 40th pick.
Saints love to throw away high draft picks.

Next year we’ll get out QB

Snipe….an interesting name.

If I told you to Fukk Off …that would be insufficient.
Too harsh for your pre-pubescent brain.

Instead I’ll just tell you to read the forum string and learn from the Adults as we speak.

Whatever people say about Payton,
his tenure as Saints coach was great while it lasted. Not only the SB, but five or six division titles…

Payton was a great coach…..

He just soured on the Saints after Drew Brees left… (1) no quality QB waiting in the wings … and (2) MOST importantly :

Loomis and Payton created Salary Cap HELL by kicking the salary cap “can” down the road for years …which Payton didn’t want to spend years fixing and losing ballgames while fixing the problem.

Easier for him to just leave with his new wife and let someone else clean up his mess.

Same. I don’t mind them taking a change with Shough, and have zero problem if we end up in the top 3 picks and grab a QB next draft…..

Shough balls out, great, he doesn’t? Oh well, grab a stud at the top of the draft next season.

Reason for no QB waiting in wings was CSP fault, he kept taking flyers on 3rd/4th rd QBs instead of 1st/2nd rd QB, he wasted 2 1st rd picks on Davenport and Payton so he was part of Saints undoing post Drew not just Loomis, CSP had all the roster control he wanted and he made some bad decisions/picks post Drew
