The drummer is drumming while the bass player is doing nothing but plucking his loose E string.
The drummer does lend some credence to the old saying.

Worlds Apart is one of maybe 5 songs I can play on the bass without music. In fairmess to him the bass line is really just a rythmic G. He isn't playing the B-D and B 64th note flourishes but he is still driving. There are also section that speed up but it is just primarily bangin a B.
