2025-26 fall food plots

What are y’all planting this season? We’re decided to go with a triticale, dundale pea and forage kale mix.

Same shite I always plant…wheat, oats, and whatever food plot mix they have at O’Neals in Ruston during the tax free weekend. It’s worked well for years.

Going cut and spray my clover plots in 2 weeks. Then I’ll go back and probably just oversees with cereal rye.

A suggestion I have is to add 5-6lbs of Durana clover to whatever you broadcast in the fall(I used Buckbusters Fall mix).
This will give you year around forage for your deer. Spray Clethodim once in May and you should be set. I found that deer prefer my non mowed clover plots so you shouldn’t have to mow them. I have gone the no till route now. Plant Stratton Legacy Blend in the fall and Heritage blend in the spring.
I included pics of a fall plot, a spring clover plot and deer using a clover plot in the summer

Would be nice to not get in a drought in the month of October for a change. We’ve planted in November the last two years.

• Crimson Clover – 3 lbs
• Red Clover – 3 lbs
• Arrowleaf Clover – 3 lbs
• Balansa Clover – 2 lbs

Man I go to my local co-op and get as many as I can. For the ones they don’t normally carry, they have been super great about ordering some for me as long as I give them a pretty good heads up
