These 2 aren't getting nearly enough praise or accolades, and we all know why.

Is this really a metric to celebrate? Tafiffs are effectively a tax on American businesses and consumers since the importer is responsible for the payment. (it is possible that importers can use it for downward proce pressure for the suppliers)

As long as the tariffs were on the left side of the Laffer curve it would produce more revenue, simple economics.

If the goal is increasing American manufacturing, what you want to see is a knee down in imports (which may or may not cause an increase or decrease in revenue depending on the amount of the tariff). The reduction in imports is the metric which, if it goes down, gives American manufacturers and would-be manufacturers an idea of if they can expend the CAPEX and ramp up production of a given widget and be financially successful.

Revenue alone isn't a very good metric to consider IF your goal is to increase domestic manufacturing. If revenue is the goal just cranking up every tax until you hit the peak of the Laffer curve is all you need to do, but I didn't think that was the goal. This is just an indication that more taxes create more revenue.

Childish retort. It's what you do when you have no factual basis to your denial of the report.

Well, exactly what did he do? I don't think the goal was to have one month of surplus in a year we add a couple trillion to the debt, right?

This is, technically, a fact, but it's also a largely irrelevant datapoint without real significance.

We just shifted spending from June to May, which is why May had a $300B+ deficit.

Note: I didn't see any threads spiking the football about May's massive deficit.

Should have been the end of your post but yet again you have to dive into " well, what if, maybe" bullshite. I said it was a fact and you admitted it was a fact so stfu.

There is no "well if maybe"

Outlays for June fell on May's accounting

Which is why May had a MASSIVE deficit of over 300 B

Especially in the short term.

I don't think I've ever seen the right side of the aisle get such a chubby over the government collecting more tax revenue, but here we are.

Why is it a suprise surplus? Raise taxes on the left of the Laffer curve you get more revenue. The same would have happend with any properly determined raise in taxes.

Maybe I am confused and this is exactly what people wanted a simple raise in revenue. I thought the idea was to bring back manufacturing to the US, this metric has nothing alone to indicate that will happen.

I am all for raising tariffs to a protectionist level on China anyone that wants to scour my post history will find I hate Chinese goods and avoid them at a almost manic level. Revenue simply isn't an indication of what I thought was the reasoning behind the tariffs which I was on board with at least vis-a-vis China.

Treasury has a surplus for June. I said it was a fact. You said " technically it's a fact" which means I was correct everything else you have to state about this is bullshite and you can shove it up your arse.

If I haven't made myself clear Idgaf what you have to say.

It's ONE month, and if you know anything, you'd know that treasury borrowing isn't equal month-to-month. It's not like we've suddenly balanced the budget. :Holy smokes y'all are falling for it. I'm impressed.

And not a single person in here "celebrating" believes that's what happened.
