Deftones new album private music out 8/22; First single “my mind is a mountain” out 7/10

First listen it definitely has Ohms vibes. It clocks in at 2:49 which is short and leaves me wanting more. Great song though.

Love it. On my second listen I noticed similarities to “Rosemary.” I played it for my son this morning, and when it was over he said, “That kinda sounded like ‘Rosemary’.”

Been a fan of Deftones for 30 years. What always loved about them is they were lumped in with Korn and Limp B but over the decades Korn and Limp B kept putting out crap whereas Deftones evolved as musicians and always came out with quality music. Looking forward to this new album. New song kicks arse

I can see that, Nick Raskulinecz produced both albums and they brought him back for this one. Those two IMO were their best since Around the Fur which has me excited.
There’s a recent interview they did with Zane Lowe on YouTube and Apple Music regarding the new album. They all seem to be in a good space - Chino has been sober for almost 3 years - and it was very evident on this last US tour. Stef is still won’t tour outside of the US but he seems to be getting healthier.

I think so, and in the interview I posted above he talks about losing all movement in his right arm that he’s since recovered from. I could be wrong but the flying/traveling abroad thing might be tied in to his beliefs, I remember during Covid he outed himself as a flat-earther but he was also very anti-vax. They’ve been able to bring in touring guitarists as additional players in the US shows and replacements for the shows abroad, dudes they grew up with like Shaun Lopez of Crosses/Far who is an incredible musician and knows all of Stef’s parts, not that the parts are very difficult.

No doubt about that. After about a 10 year wait, Good night God Bless did not disappoint. Another example of Chino turning out hits. (I still would like a new Team Sleep)
