I'm surprised by how low Stern went and high how Rome went with the way they handled that interaction.

nah, Stern acted and talked a big game. He took no shite, and didn't play the gotcha, or talk radio games. He was always an a-hole, but he ws so good at his job, people actually thought he was this nice guy.

Well, it is rigged, is there any question about that now?

no, and a FIFA guy showed how to rig a draft, with blind draws. They raise the lettering on the balls, so person roaming his hand around can feel the letters, and no one actually sees who's put in the blind draw dealios.

because of rigged claims, they have shown more of who goes into pot, but they said, the person pulling ball, if he wanted can feel the name on the ball.

That's how I always saw it, though if memory serves fans at the time were laughing about Stern "dunking" on Rome. Which, yeah, I get. Stern was a (generally) popular commissioner throughout his time with the league and Rome was always more polarizing. But Rome was completely correct in saying that it was a fair question to ask and to get Stern to address the elephant in the room. Fans were definitely asking the question then and just because Stern doesn't feel like addressing it doesn't mean that it shouldn't be addressed. All Stern had to do was make a quick statement about the integrity of the league, the steps that the league takes to ensure transparency in the draft process, etc., but instead he tried a below-the-belt trick to redirect the conversation and get Rome to stoop to his level (which to Rome's credit he didn't do).

I don’t believe Rome ever had domestic abuse issues, not even a rumor if I’m correct. That’s what made it a low blow by Stern that was completely unnecessary. And yes, the question was legit. At the time you had Cleveland landing the #1 to get LeBron, and the #1 right after he left.

Now, I’d say no way it’s rigged. Wemby going to SA is not in the NBA’s best interest.

The beating your wife question is a classic logic rebuttal when someone asks you to prove a negative.

Stern was running miles around most of his contemporaries and light years around schmucks like Jim Rome.
