I'm sure he could help some playoff team down the stretch.

Is he not? Just cause he played for LSU doesn’t mean he can beat Father Time. I’m surprised they didn’t DFA him last year

3 X All Star, 4 X Gold Glove winner, 2 X Silver Slugger, and 2 Batting Titles. DJ still has a .289 career batting average, and that’s with him batting .253 over his last 5 seasons.
He’s made 110 million in his career, and his prize for getting designated is another 22 million owed by the Yankees. End of the run from one of our best.

Brewers might take a flyer on him. They need a right handed bat.

Cubs need a bat and 3rd baseman.....might be a very good fit. I think they drafted him too

And still batting .266 at 37. Some players never hit that high in any season of their careers.

He can’t play 3B. He already told the NYY that.

You’re getting downvoted but it’s the truth. He’s a liability in the field and is a shell of what he was as a batter. Which is to be expected at 37. He’s had a great career

Wow, time flies.
Wild that he has been with the Yankees since 2019. It still feels to me like he just left Colorado 3 or 4 years ago. Hell of a career.

Knowing that we will lose to Father Time and knowing WHEN we will lose to Father Time are not the same.

Career .990 fielder and 1.000 this season? Some liability.

The reason they are moving on from him is because he can’t play in the field. Hes got zero range they couldn’t hide him at 2nd and they have two first basemen.
Age and lower body injuries caught up to him big time. He can be a bench player/maybe platoon at first base for a contender or go play every day for a bad team just willing to carry a cheap vet with a .660 OPS

The first happened last year & the other happened today

Tell me you don’t watch MLB without telling me you don’t watch MLB. If the ball is hit straight to him he’ll make the play. But he’s 37 and moves like a statue. He has no range he can’t play the field.

Matt Shaw is playing at a Gold Glove level at 3rd base.

Agreed but he’s about to catch a ride back to Iowa soon. Bring on Eugenio Suarez!
