Riding Lawn Mower Recs

I’m purchasing a house next month and will have about 2 acres of grass to cut. Any good recommendations on a riding mower that makes the most sense? Don’t want to cost an arm and a leg but also want something built to last

Do you have any Recs while eating your popcorn?

Really depends on whether you wanting commercial or big box ( most is crap these days ) Budget and terrain will also come into play? Personally I use Scag which gets the job done.

Someone was trying to sell a huster on here a few weeks ago…..
If you get a lower end commercial models, they will probably last a lot longer. I bought a 10yr old Hustler with the Honda engine, it’s 20yrs old now and still going. Deck is starting to rust out but hoping I can get a few more years out of it.

I have the Cub Cadet forest gump style mower. It works fine. Never been in shop going on 6 years now. There are bigger and faster options, but big box mowers work just fine for average folks. If you want to get it done in 20min and have a few thousand to spare, get a commercial zt.

Deere x300 series. Buy used if don’t like price. Perfect for 2 acres because can also pull sprayer, plug aerator, de thatch, lawn sweeper, etc. ZTR will be faster but far less comfortable with a lower quality cut.

I love not having to put gas in my Greenworks 60V. No belts either. Quiet and powerful. Four batteries and it does my 2 acres with about 15% powere left.

I personally own a Kubota zd1211 with a 72" deck...sounds like your application would be fine with a 54 or 60...I'd definitely suggest Kubota or Scagg

i have a gravely and like it. i've also had a lowes version john deere and liked it... a good 48" ztr would be just what you need.
alot of these things have the same parts. same engines, same drives, etc. they're all surprisingly very similar except for the frames.
does the gravely seem "better built and more sturdy" than the big box john deere? yes.
did i ever have a lick of trouble from the "Green parts" of that mower after i beat the absolute shite out of it? no

I have a Scagg Tiger Cat 2 - cutting 3 acres - mine is 61" but you can get it in 54". Its a tank and designed to cut all day (12 gallon tanks). highly recommend it.

Have 2 acres with a 5 year old Hustler raptor 60”
No issues
Local dealerships picks it up once a year for maintenance and charges me $200 for whatever they do
