Guitar guys, what is the best sounding, budget priced, micro guitar amp?

I came across a nice, well-made wooden box (appears to be oak), all dove tail joints and nice tight fitting lid. Bought it for a reasonable price then brought it home and made a guitar recording chamber out of it.
Put my little 3 watt orange micro in it and mic'd it up and it sounds pretty good, but I think maybe it could be better. A bit bigger amp would fit, the inside is just shy of 12" square and about 30" long.

In other news, I ordered a new Inspired by Gibson Epiphone Hummingbird today.
I sort of wanted to get the natural finish, but I got the cherry sunburst. Supposed to be here Wednesday.

Check out Positive Grid's offerings. I bought a minty clean Spark 40 used and it was the best $100 I have ever spent on gear in my life. I could write a diatribe on everything it does and offers, and it does everything awesomely. You can run it with the manual controls or you can load in tons of amps, effects, and even backing tracks to play along to, via its phone app. You can run bass and/or acoustic guitars through it too. And I rigged mine up to run it via a rechargeable lithium battery so it's completely portable should I want to jam amplified on a porch or at a campsite.

A friend brought his over once, it sounded great. He didn't show all of those features though. That's some cool shite.
I'll have one soon.

Yup I bought a spark mini and love the thing. I am impressed at the tones I can get out of it at such a low volume.

Looks like the 40 watt will be 2 inches too wide for my wooden box. The 10 watt will fit well, but has less features/amp presets than the 40 watt.
Does the 40 watt have an output jack for an extension speaker? Because that might work perfectly.
I could fit the 40 inside the box if I turn it longways, but I'm not sure it will still give the same sound. I want a bit of distance from the amp to the mic, I may be thinking of that all wrong though.
Any input is appreciated.

Spark Mini

Has a great app that lets you dial in your sound and use a bunch of virtual peddles.

The Spark's factory box is very strategic, in that it is robust to the point of being overbuilt. It is heavy and closed back and that contributes GREATLY to the tone of the amp, specifically its low end response and projection. DO NOT rebox the amp if you get it!

You can get any tone you chase including ultra high gain. The Spark hosts four go-to tones you assign and preset. Right now, my four presets are built around a Soldano SLO 100, a Two Rock head (think Dumbly), a blackface Fender combo, and a 5150 stack.

Here's the list of amps you can access instantly and/or load into the onboard preset banks ... and the absolute sea of vintage and modern stompboxes.

I hope you have yours in the shop when I drop my Tele and Martin off soon. We talked a couple of weeks ago about my left-handedness.

I liked the wireless thing I saw and their stomp box too to control it.

They got a rectifier so I dunno what else I'll need.

What I was referring to is the guitar recording chamber that I made out of a wooden box.
The idea is to put the whole amp inside of the box to isolate it. I've cut holes in the box to put in microphones and cables.
That way I can sing while I record guitar parts without having my voice or other noise screwing up the guitar track.
Then record better vocal tracks to that where I can concentrate entirely on lyrics and singing.
I can plug straight into the recorder, but I prefer the sound of a good amp mic'd up right.

Yamaha THR 30 watt is awesome. Doesn’t sound exactly suited for your use case, but it’s the most versatile little amp I’ve come across. Built in rechargeable battery, built in line 6 receiver, on board eq and effects controls, small and attractive form factor…I love tube amps and feel inspired by the tone when it starts to break up in a way that solid state just can’t match, but this thing is just so plug and play it’s hard to turn anything else on.
