Why should people who get paid with tips not pay taxes?

Question is the title. I get why it made for a snappy campaign slogan, but what is a good non partisan justification for this policy?

I am all for less Tax. Trump was smart doing this, because it takes the Democrats for a loop on their tax breaks for the rich sham. Heck Democrats give money to the rich and make them richer like Elon.

My understanding is that it just applies to cash tips. That’s always been an “honor system” tax declared on a self-reported basis.

They shouldn't. It is income and should be taxed as such. Either tax all income or none of it.

When I tip someone for good service, I don't want 20%-30% going to the Government. Government servicing sucks; they don't deserve tips.

A better question is, why is anyone paying taxes after we’ve found out what happens to our tax dollars per DOGE?
