I know I'm setting myself up for disappointment again, but I think LSU wins its opener

I have a feeling this is the year we finally get over the post 2019 title slump and win our season opener. We go into Clemson and shock the world. Just a feeling.

I want to believe but seeing every 2026 mock draft with 4-5 picks coming from Clemson, including multiple D Linemen, doesn't give me the warm fuzzies.

O line is a mystery, D needs to finally be up to our standard or its going to be another wasted season.

I will believe it when I see it. Starting out in the hole is becoming tiresome.

I think LSU loses the opener, TD melts, fans chant “Fire Kelly” at the home game on 9/6, LSU wins 11 straight games, wins the SEC Championship, beats ND in the playoffs, wins the natty.

The biggest problem is Clemson is pretty damn loaded. Forget the fact that they are playing at home at night. Clemson has a lot of good players.

Of all the opening games for the last 5 years this is the opening game I feel the least confident about.

That's why LSU will win.

I do not see a W. OL is a mystery and the defense although looks tough and deep still needs to prove they are for real. It will be real on Saturday @Clemson. Clemson has a proven defense and veteran QB and OL. LSU loses again, but in a close one, we hope. Could be a blow out to. I just do not think CBK gets it done.
Clemson - 31
LSU - 26

Clemson is slightly overrated. Propping up a weak ACC. Should be a great game 35-27 LSU Tigers.

I disagree. This is actually their least overrated team since we played them in the Natty.

This is easily their best squad in years.

Finally get a home and away series and we go on the road first. Seems like we would have more control in our deals and scheduling than what we do.

I want to believe, but confidence is low and CBK is 0-3 in LSU season openers. Until that changes there is little reason for season opener optimism.

I feel a certain cautious optimism, like I had before a few seasons in the Miles era. Not quite how I felt pre-2011, but pretty close to pre-2013. 2013 was a 10-3 season, but very close to being a 12-1 season.

That is not to compare the coaches or coaching in general, just how I felt about the upcoming season.

I have gone to every opener going back to Washington in Seattle in 2009. I am skipping this one. You can thank me later after the LSU win.

I think everyone just knew 2019 was going to be a special year because we saw how far along Burrow came with Jefferson and Chase in 2018. My confidence was sky high going into 2019 and just saying to myself if Aranda could field pretty good defense (which he did) no one was going to be able to outscore the Tiger offense. That offense had so much talent and chemistry.

Do I feel like that this year? No, no I don't.

But my optimism is pretty high for this year. I just hope the talent comes together and Nuss uses his feet a little more.

In all my years of serious LSU football fandom (I was a very casual fan in the early 70s, but I was a little kid; my freshman year in 1980 started my serious fandom) I never felt quite like I did going into the season in 2019. I was a little nervous before the Texas game, but I thought we could and would win. After that game, the only test I thought LSU would really face was Bama, then maybe Georgia.

2011 was the next closest, but it built through the season.

This season is closer to a 2011 feeling to me, but not quite that high yet. The Clemson game will affect my hopes for the season quite a bit

I just hate that our biggest question mark on offense being the O line is going against their strength on D line. That doesnt bode very well.

If their D line is able to have their way with the LSU O line LSU has zero chance.

Don't care how many mock draft picks Clemson has. Lsu ALWAYS has a plethora of talent and this year is no different. Tigahs by 350
