When did your LSU baseball fandom start?

My dad always said watching baseball on tv is as boring as watching golf. So growing up, we never watched baseball. Just football. I kept up with the team in ‘17 when they made it to Omaha, but wasn’t deeply invested.
It was Maineiri’s last year and Dylan Crews freshman year that I got ESPN+ and could watch all of the games. And I’ve been locked in ever since then. Me and 2 of my best friends have a group chat that we text back and forth every game.
So admittedly, I haven’t been a baseball fan nearly as long as most. But damn it’s been a fun ride ever since I’ve become invested.

Not long after Skip took over, but the 1989 season was big for me, especially the College Station regional. That won me over and I was totally on board.

Probably late 90’s or early 2000’s. I was always a fan but didn’t start watching college sports every weekend until I was around 18 to 20. Watched way more MLB and NFL going up.

When Todd Walker went to LSU, I went to High School with him and played Dixie ball on the same team as him for a couple years. It was pretty cool watching him excel at LSU and watching him play on TV and in the Big Leagues.

I remember going to see this monster pitcher everyone was talking about. My dad and uncle talked about him all the way to Baton Rouge.

2009 title run. That was my freshman year. Before that I really only followed football only. Been an avid fan ever since.

My first conscience memories were as a 5 year old during the 96 season. That was a fun one to snap into reality. Been hooked since then.

1985 season after watching the Miss St. series and winning 2/3. They were the pinnacle of SEC baseball at that time. We didn't make it to Omaha that year, but it was the beginning of the juggernaut that is LSU baseball.

Watching in the late 90s with my diehard fan grandfather. I then went to the Skip Bertman camp after the 2000 championship to solidify the fandom

At some point around the late 80s amd early 90s. Im not really sure, I know that I remember Warren Morris' homerun, and I vaguely remember the Fullerton and Wichita State teams that were seemingly in Omaha. I don't remember specifically the 91 and 93 championship teams, but I know I watched them if they were on TV.

My dad and I made a few games in the early 80's but after Skip it was on a different level.

I was 6 years old when I heard Jim Hawthorne call Warren Morris’ walk-off in ‘96 on the car radio
Have been dialed in since

It was about 1986. Skip had been there 2 years or so and the train was just starting to roll. Belle, Papajohn, Bowie, Patterson, Manuel. A TV game here and there. Started going to the Box. The thought that LSU baseball could be a legit winner was becoming more and more of a reality and I was all about that.

Early 90s. Maybe 93. I was always a fan, but I really started focusing on it and going to the games around then, I've only missed 2/3 home games a season since then,

When Skip got to Baton Rouge one of his very first recruits was a guy I played ball with and went to High School with. He was a year older than I.
I always wondered how the hell did Skip Bertman find this guy from such a small town in the mid 80s with no internet, etc. Just goes to show you that if you're really, Really, REALLY GOOD, they will find you!

I was a UNO baseball fan starting in the early 80’s.
Tickets were like $5 and it was a short drive or a long bike ride on the Lakefront to go to games.
They routinely beat LSU and Tulane (State Champs) and were the first Louisiana team to make the CWS (which was the first time I ever watched the CWS).
I first started caring about LSU baseball when Ben McDonald was there. By the time I was out of college in the mid 90’s LSU had already won a Natty and UNO had dropped out of the picture and have been an LSU baseball fan since then.
From the early 80’s til whenever the last time they played, I’ve been to just about every LSU-UNO game on the Lakefront, and most of the Wally Pontiff games at Zephyr Field.

You would do this entire board a favor if you went back to being a Tulane fan.

I was born in 93. Now that I’m a big fan and know they won the natty in 93 it makes me feel special lol
I’d love to go to more games but we’re 3 hours away, so typically only make a handful of games a year
