6.5 games up in the division and 1.5 games back of the best record in the AL as the second half of the season begins:

Cocksuck, Crane, and Bagwell all need to go get fricked:

Killa Cam:

What it takes to be on the Astros’ medical staff:

Where could this team go when and if Yordan, Javier, and the rest of the walking wounded ever make it back?

And now, ladies and gentlemen, it’s time for our Long Distance Dedication. This one comes from a loyal listener in Houston, Texas, a city that lives and breathes baseball. Here’s what he wrote:

"Dear Casey,

I’ve been a Houston Astros fan my whole life, and for seven years, Ryan Pressly was the heartbeat of our bullpen. From his record-breaking 40-game scoreless streak in 2019 to clinching the 2022 World Series with that final pitch, he gave us moments we’ll never forget. I was heartbroken when he was traded to the Chicago Cubs this offseason, but tonight, he’s back in Houston, stepping onto the mound at Daikin Park as a visitor. It feels strange, but I want to honor him for all he did for our team. Please play Papa's Got A Brand New Bag by James Brown. This one’s for you, Ryan, from all of us in H-Town.

Signed, A Grateful Astros Fan."

Well, folks, Ryan Pressly’s journey has been one for the record books. A two-time All-Star, a World Series champion who racked up 111 saves with the Astros, fourth in franchise history, and holds the fifth-most postseason saves in MLB history with 14. Tonight, as he steps back into Houston, where he and his wife Kat made their home and raised their two kids, Wyatt and Hunter Lee, it’s a moment of reflection for a city that cheered him through every high and low.

So, for Ryan, back in the city where he became a legend and where he received many hearty bags, from the American Top 40 archives, here’s James Brown with Papa's Got A Brand New Bag.

Keep your feet on the ground, and keep reaching for the stars.

Wonder what Peña’s status is today? Wouldn’t be surprised if he got the day off or even the rest of the weekend

Hope they rest him. We’re playing with house money having won the last four.

That was quick. Forest has already been DFAd by the Rays

We replaced Bregman and got a future star / ROY candidate for a one year Tucker rental. Dana ate. Not to mention that before the injury, Wesneski looked like a dependable 4-5 starter.

Saw someone mention on twitter it would be hysterical if Crane finally spends a Mega contract on Tucker after using him to retool a bit

We’re about to have a very good problem with our rotation. Which Sugarland guy gets to stay?

Walter: 5 starts 29IP 11ER 3.34 ERA 29H 30K 2BB 3.66FIP

Gordon: 8 starts 40IP 18ER 3.98 ERA 48H 38K 5BB 4.21FIP

Gusto: 17G 11 starts 60.1IP 4.62 ERA 66H 67K 23BB 4.04FIP...As a starter though its a 5.33 ERA although if you want to forgive him for a 7ER blow up in 2.1 innings, the 4.25 in the other 10 starts is probably more reflective of what you typically get from him.

I don't know the right choice. All of them seem generally competent as back end starters.

I think Gusto has more potential as a reliever than the other two. I’d like to see him stick around as a reliever. Both Gordon and Walter are competent. Splitting hairs between the two.

Weems and Hernandez are expendable and Ort is sadly trending that way

Walter and Gordon do a great job of limiting free baserunners. Pitchers at all levels should lay attention to that.

Ort looks cooked. No confidence last night.
