He looked slow and weak to be honest.

I don't know if that's him being overly cautious, but he was very methodical and never really had his fist of lightning moment.

His opponent wasn't a complete tomato can with a 24-5 record, but he didn't really press Wilder. He knew his job coming in.

He doesn't have time to fight these guys anymore. He might have 2 or 3 fights left in him. He needs to get in the mix quick if he ever will.

One issue both he and Fury have since their bouts is that they fight so infrequently they are clearly rusty.

With that Wilder is clearly a shell of his former self and is no longer elite

Time for what? He turns 40 this year and was always a one trick pony.

Hope he was good with his money but the fact that he is still fighting tells me otherwise

Come on man, Wilder NEVER was elite. He had a big right hand-----and that is all he had.

His footwork and lack of basic boxing skill added to his windmill punching and often coming off his feet while throwing them made him look like a rank amateur at best.

I submit there's never been a Heavyweight Title Holder with less basic boxing skills as Wilder.

Maybe not a complete tomato can, but his 10 previous opponents prior to last night's fight had a compiled record of 91 wins, 96 losses and 1 draw.

No more than a journeyman at most------and a pretty weak one at that.

And if Wilder NEEDS the money after his stint as Heavyweight Champion, then he, like many other sports figures, is an idiot to not be set for life.

And the list is long for broke-arse sports figures who made millions during their career who wound up bankrupt.

Wichita did a poor job of advertising this. I didn’t hear about it until like 5 hours before it started yesterday. I probably wouldve went otherwise

He defended the HW championship TEN times. Only four other HW fighters have done that. People watch HW boxing to see fighters get knocked TF out. Wilder did that better than any other boxer in history. If you want to watch a technical fighter, watch the LW-MW divisions.

And, last night I don't think people realized what was happening. Wilder had undergone two major shoulder surgeries on his right shoulder, plus he had a completely new corner which was badly needed. Last night Wilder seemed to have regained that snapping left jab and hook from his early years and for the first time in his career actually moved his head some.

Last night wasn't supposed to be a 1 round dynamite show. It was to give Wilder live rounds against a durable opponent to work on the new things he showed last night. He did that to success.

He'll probably fight one or two more tune ups to get his timing back (which was obviously off last night) and then there will be a super fight with Anthony Joshua probably in Wimbley Stadium which will be slam fricking full.

Instead of fans bitching about Wilder not being the second coming of Floyd Mayweather or Larry Holmes we should be enjoying what he is while we have him, the most devastating puncher in HW history because there's nothing like him on the horizon of American HW boxing.

You're entitled to your opinion, but don't look for me to change my mind about Wilder.

I don't see him beating a legit top tier heavyweight in any upcoming fight. He don't want any part of Fury, would likely get KO'd by Joshua, Usyk would make him look foolish and box rings around him so he better stick to lower paydays and easier opponents.

He's lost 4 of his last 6 fights, 3 of them by KO.

Wilder is finished. He has no chin and no ring iq. No skills. He was a coddled fighter who was put in with mostly mediocre opposition and even then he struggled in several of them. Maybe he can now rematch Big Bang Zhang and get his head knocked off again?

You don’t know shite about boxing. Wilder’s title defenses were some of the worst ever

They were basically set up fights. Wilder was in at least one fixed fight ironically against his Trainer Malik Scott who was ‘KOed’ by a punch that didn’t even land

Glad you watch some Friday night fights

But last night was pretty bad Herndon was a human punching bag; the one time he actually tried and nearly landed a nice combo; higher level fighters would have got Wilder in trouble quickly. Hes not the same anymore

Wilder most devastating puncher in heavy weight history?
George Foreman had something to say about that

Wilder physically looks incredible. He is in phenomenal shape, especially for his age. When I looked it up, it stated that he made in-between 2-3M for this fight. He just can't make that type of money doing anything else. I can see why he'd keep fighting..

He doesn't need the money. He's invested very well.

What was his one trick? Being tall? The only reason he was as good as he was is because he's a good boxer. He didn't have crazy power or was crazy elusive.

Reading this tells me you don't know shite about boxing. Wilder is not, and could never be considered a good boxer.

However you're right about his not being crazy elusive. He was so amateurish in the ring it wasn't funny with the way he walked straight back with his head up when opponents pressed the action.

His ONLY saving grace was that right hand that he used as the great equalizer because he wasn't winning any pure boxing matches.

And if you haven't figured it out by now, his "One Trick" was his right hand that KO'd opponents. Other than that, he sucked as a boxer.
