Are we about to see some transformational, "All-In" moves?

Judging from the move last night, Joe is betting that we will not be a high lotto team. He can't possibly believe that we will be to make this move.
Looking at that current roster... that is a bit hard to believe with DJM missing half the year at most.
We do have some good players when healthy, but its now a lot of odd fits.
So does Dumars have some SERIOUS moves in mind going forward to make damn sure he is right?
Are we about to trade some players we really like and 28/30 1st round picks and swaps?

To me acquiring fears and queen feel like moves for the post Zion era. Two ball dominant players where one of them fits better where Zion plays.
Maybe they roll with Zion this year. Attempt to up his value like Poole and then trade them.

Yeah, I agree, and that makes sense if they are trading say...the 2029 pick.
They are trading NEXT YEARS pick so it makes it a bit weirder

I hope. If our options are to be mediocre and inevitably trade Zion or attempt to make a run and inevitably trade Zion then I'd rather make a run and do whatever we can to compete. We really aren't that far away if we add a center and a few vets.
Trey/ Zion/ Poole/ are a very talented group fully healthy. Fears/ Bey/ Miss/ Queen/ Karlo have great potential whether individually or as a whole. Murray and Herb are really our make or break players at the moment. Whether its through how well they play or what they return in a trade, our next few decisions are most likely directly impacted through those 2.

Not necessarily, a trade with Zion/ Herb/ Murray could easily return a pick next year among other things. I mean the first thing we heard was that Dumars was demanded to trade Zion.
With a Missi redraft we essentially just drafted 3 top 15 rookies the last 2 years and found a possible pairing mate with Trey in Poole. If Poole shows out and Fears is legit then we potentially have our future 1,2, and 3 for foreseeable future. A rebuild Trade with Zion that is solely focused on 3-5 positions and picks would be ideal if we go that route.

I argued that in another thread, but YOUR pick is still going to another team if you suck, and the picks you get back aren't as high.
So you are definitely betting on not sucking next year

I'm not buying the "add value to Poole and flip him" philosophy. I think he's a great fit and will get an extension if he plays similar to last year or better.

Or you are betting to get back a player instead of multiple picks. KD/ Luka type trade instead of a Bane type trade.
If we don't make anymore big moves then it seems we are 100% rehabilitating Zion/ Murray along with their trade value to possibly trade them.

The only possible way the trade last night makes sense is if you are talking with Boston to send Murray and Herb out for Brown, or someone as talented on that level.
We can absorb the extra in salary, and Boston gets even more tax relief getting under the 1st apron and within striking distance if being out of the tax altogether.

Part of me wonders if Dumars and co. were just eliminating the whole "fanbase roots for us to lose for better picks" narrative next season.
Thats managerial malpractice but i wonder

I think Zion can play off ball. Maybe that will help him with his defense. If you look at the starting lineup, all of the guys can play off ball actually.

This. I think it's an all in move. If the team stays relatively healthy then genius move. If it's another season racked with injuries then we have dug quite a hole.

With the current roster and DJM hurt for at least half the year who are we better than in the west as of now? Looking at the west I see minimum 6-7 teams who will be better than us. Pels will be fighting for a play-in spot even if healthy.

good thing we have a proven coach that can devise a scheme to make this team win games.

Right. I wasn't referring to yesterdays move as an all in move.
I was saying in order to justify giving up next year's pick, they have to have some other moves in mind to transform this roster so it isn't a lottery team next year

Yeah, I love the idea of trading Zion and the Bucks picks back for Giannis. But……..

I dont know why, and I keep telling myself I'm way off, but I keep having the thought that the roster is evolving into Dumars' modern-day Pistons with Billups/RIP/Tayshaun/Wallace Bros. The obvious and most glaring difference is defense/toughness.
