We shall see.

Well, at least the technical aspects will be phenomenal. It still depends upon the casting of Bond

Why are some of the responses to getting one of the best directors out there far less than ecstatic?

This is an interesting choice and kind of a new direction for Bond. I’m into it.

Technically brilliant director but his style does not fit Bond at all. Not a fan of this choice

I would agree but if it's him and Nolan vs the field I am absolutely loving this choice versus the 10k other ways they could've gone here.

Hans on the score???

So a cold, slow moving and humorless Bond movie that ‘looks’ really good.

Some of the Craig films already did that. Not a fan

Nolan would be even worse than Denis. I don't want 60 timelines and nonlinear storytelling in a frickin James Bond movie, but I also don't want it to be cold and humorless either.

Bond needs to be fun again and DV has never made anything that could be called "fun."

You're telling me you don't want a CGI Sean Connery fighting Pierce Brosnan all while Daniel Craig talks with a southern accent trying to figure out why Matthew Mcconaughey keeps saying he's James Bond?

Because while he's a very solid director, some are wondering if he's right for the role he's been chosen for. Villeneuve has a style that isn't necessarily compatible with Bond. There's a very simple formula that filmmakers should follow when directing a film in the franchise, a formula that almost all of them seem to have forgotten since the early-00s: heart-pumping action, fast cars, hot girls, a bad guy bent on world domination, and Bond saving the world.

Which is why I think of the filmmakers on Amazon's shortlist that was put out a week or so ago, Edgar Wright was the one they should have gone with.

Sounds like he is a huge fan, and will try to keep it traditional Bond.

I’m game if he does that.

Because a substantial subset of posters on the board very loudly proclaimed that Amazon would kill bond by making him go woke. But since DV is clearly not a woke director, they have to invent another reason why this won’t work in order to mentally justify their initial skepticism of Amazon purchasing the IP.

The thing is that Craig could have easily inserted a sense of fun and humor in the Bond movies. Look what he did with Knives Out and Logan Lucky (he was hilarious in that).
