Don't have a sub so if anyone does and can post contents of the story please do.
But my position is I'm fine with setting whatever ridiculous minimum they want BUT there needs to be a complete overhaul to our Tax code where every dollar earned is taxed at the same amount regardless of how many dollars you earn.

Uh, no
The correct position is to quit printing trillions of dollars

I agree, but the proletariat will never vote for this in a million years.

I don’t understand how you don’t realize how stupid this is.
Make one dollar over the threshold and suddenly you need to make at least 7k more just to end up about where you started?

I've never seen a flat tax proposal that operated like this.

That didn't last long. At first it was just hotel maids and one other group. I rarely eat out now bc the restaurant prices are so insane. Its either me cooking at home or keto in n out

At this point, you just need to move to LA, live in a van, shower at Planet Fitness for 3 years, save every damn penny and then move out and go pay cash for a house in like Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Tennessee.

He didn’t say anything about a flat tax, just that your rate would apply to everything.
Flat taxes are even worse, because you wouldn’t like how much higher they would need to be.

How much higher would they have to be if the bottom 47% actually had to pay something?

Minimum wage should be a federal and not local decision. If it costs more to live there, the market will dictate what happens. A few big states shouldn't lead the country into stupid inflation. If you can get $30+ an hour to flip burgers in Cali that sounds great, but the cost of living keeps growing.
It is almost an attempt to seperatate themselves from the rest of us by just saying cost of living is higher here.
Here's one for you. I worked for a multinational company that paid more to their Houston plant workers than one in the NO metro. Their reasoning was cost of living was higher there when in reality cost of living was higher in the NO metro then. They did increase wages in NO area but still hasn't caught up to Houston area.
The company was Stolthaven so if you want to check.

Unions often have a contract clause that ties their pay to a multiple of minimum wage.

Well, he said he wanted to change the tax code so that every dollar earned is taxed at the same rate, regardless of how many dollars are earned. If that isn't a flat tax, what is it?
If it isn't, then explain this comment:

What threshold are you referring to? What calculation would cause $1 over said threshold to equate to basically a $7k income hit.

Read through this as many times as it takes to figure out the issue with this statement.

Can’t squeeze blood from a turnip.
It’s not the 10-12% against a 40k base that means a lot. It’s the 30+% on 6-7 figures.
The top 1% pay 40% of all taxes. The top 10% pay over 75% of all taxes.
The meat of income is coming from tax brackets higher than you. So to keep it the same, you’ll have to pay more than you do now.

Completely contingent statement.

That's not how the progressive income tax works.

Your idea would never work.
