They like to randomly change the pronunciation of commonly used terms to feel educated or some shite. Like Kiev to Kyiv or whatever. They’re a bunch of fricking nerds.

It's so you can't sing, "Iran, I ran so far away.." to images of B2s.

Is this like Jug Ears pronouncing ISIS with a hard L at the end?

It's always been pronounced Ee-rahn, we're just never taught that. Then whenever the media wants to sound enlightened they trot out the correct pronunciation.

Probably around the same time Kiev became “Keev”.
These jokers in the media spend most of their time focused on efforts other than trying to investigate and present true unbiased news to the public.

When I was in middle school we had a brother and sister from Iraq who rode our bus. They pronounced it as “Eee-Rock”. This was 20+ years ago.
My guess is that people from the region pronounce it like that and people in ‘Murica pronounce it as Eye Ran.

Should we have been? Different words are pronounced differently in different countries.
If you've got a little gray in your hair you remember the pre Clarence Thomas pronunciation of "harassment". Lemmings shift direction all at once.

Go anywhere else in the world and pronounce it “I ran”, then notice the looks you get.
Are people seriously this unaware that the US often butchers these things?

Yea lib media should ditch the Pronunciation Policing games of countries ruled by people who actually find the life of an illiterate warlord like Muhammad that enslaved any other group his tribe came across while scouring every sand dune in Arabia in search of the perfect 8 year old child to claim for a wife as the singular model their entire civilization must organize their society around.
Get back to looking out for the awesome LATINX community who are righteously convinced that American law and order surrounding immigration is something that doesn't apply to them.
