I may have missed one, but I don’t recall coastal having any 1-2-3 innings. I think they had at least one runner on base in every inning of the finals. If not all 18, at least 17? Can anyone confirm or deny this?

I know the 6th inning in the first game was 3 up and 3 down. The other 8 innings were not.

In the second game the 8th inning was 3 up and 3 down. The other 8 innings were not.

That’s 2 innings in 18 were 3 up 3 down.

That’s actually terrible for us, but miraculously we kept them from scoring much.

Felt like everytime they got someone on we struck the next guy out. Minimizes the risk of having runners on for sure.

Actually even with the hit in the 9th it was three up and three down. Only three people came to the plate.

They had a shite ton of base runners but fortunately left most of them stranded.

I was listening to something and they said Coastal had base runners in 17 of 18 innings. Think it was the D1 wrap up podcast

What are you talking about? In the 9th inning three Coastal batters came up to bat and three sat down. How else does it work?? Was there a magical batter only you know about? Enlighten me.

They had a runner on for the game ending double play. It was 3 up three down with a hit mixed in. So you don’t really consider it three up three down because you did allow a baserunner. Even tho 3 batters came to bat and you recorded three out in the inning.

Faced the minimum is different than 3 up 3 down in baseball terminology.

They barely generated any offense of their own. LSU had to walk or hit someone for them to get on base much of the time, as they really couldn't handle our pitching when it was in the zone, with rare exceptions.

Several innings it was a 2 out walk or hit to get first base runner of inning…which helped a lot.
They definitely didn’t have the 2 out magic like we did.

It seemed like we kept getting the first guy out and they’d get the second guy on. I was at the game, and I haven’t rewatched it, so my memory could be faulty.

How many CCU runners got to third base? Besides the guy who stole it, but over-slid (and of course the two HRs), I don’t remember a guy on third.

One more reason this CCU team is one of the best in the history of the game.

As you said it was three up and three down in the 9th, whether there was a hit mixed in or not. The poster I responded to asked if LSU had any three up and three down innings other than the 8th. LSU did. The one in the 8th and in the 9th. He didn't ask if we had any other hitless innings or innings without any base runners..

9th inning was not “1-2-3” but was the min batters. Hit, K, DP.

That's called facing the minimum and it's not the same as 3 up 3 down. Honestly that's baseball 101.
