My wife drives an Audi. A/C went out this weekend. You turn the A/C on and you hear a hissing sound from behind the dash.
Are there any reputable shops in and around the Sheveport/bossier/haughton/Minden/Ruston area that I should check before I take it to Audi Shreveport?

My Audi AC went out and it was 3000 to fix and it honestly was not completely fixed. Here is the big kicker..Want to know who works on AUDI's in BR...Welp, you guessed it AUDI. How long it took for them just to diagnose? (3 weeks) and to fix....(an additional 2 weeks)
Good luck man....Never again.

Yep, this. Happened to a co-worker's Audi SUV. Nearly $9k to fix because they had to virtually disassemble the vehicle to get at the components in the dash, not covered by warranty. He traded it immediately for a non-Audi.

$3,000 going out!

It may be the blower. When I had an Audi I had a similar problem and bought the replacement part for $120 and fixed it. Was a pain in the arse but got it done in 2 hours and saved thousands

My buddy owns dealerships all over the state. I wanted to get my daughter an Audi and his advice was “no because the second they get 30k miles they start having trouble and it’s expensive repairs “.

Hissing means a vacuum leak.
Used commonly on much older cars.

How old is that thing?

Might end up doing just that.. We've had it for 7 years and it has 67,000 miles on it

I guess it how you take care of them. On my 3rd Audi since 2009. 90k on the first, 160k on the 2nd. Never an issue other than scheduled maintenance. 30k on this one.

Before you do anything, search the Internet for your particular year/model and problem. There are plenty of Audi forums out there where people have probably had the same problem.

It could be something very simple or at least a cheap DIY thing to rule something out. On my last Jeep, the blower quit working. Several people went through the cost of having the blower replaced and how to DIY if you wanted. There were a couple people that said the blower power wire would loosen over time, that was all mine was. Found the blower and shoved the wire back in.

Never take you car in, until after an internet/youtube search of your issue.

Well the compressor forcing the gas through the orfice tube into the evaporator coil will sound like a hiss.

At best he has a fan issue. At worst he juat had his eventual experience to swear off German cars.

It’s almost certainly an evaporator leak… should be several thousand to fix
