What were your initial thoughts when Jay was announced as the hire?

I remember being very under whelmed when I heard he was the hire. I honestly didn’t know much about him coming from Arizona. I remember watching his introductory press conference and thinking this dude is different. He seemed like a baseball savant who lived to be a coach. Totally won me over after that. Now he’s proving himself to be the next GOAT. What were your first thoughts?

Anyone have a link to the thread?

Glad it wasn't Bianco or O'Sullivan.

It was certainly out of nowhere to me, but I wasn't upset at it. What helped is I was super relieved it wasn't Bianco. That made anyone else that much better. Sorry if this offends anyone, because I know a lot of former players support him and that's fine. I want LSU to get a younger guy.

I knew it was a solid hire with the fact he was in the WS with Arizona.

He got Arizona to 2 CWS and a finals so I thought he was a good hire. I did not foresee 2 titles in 4 years though.

I remember that I wanted O'Connor, evidence proves that LSU hired a better coach than him.

We wanted a coach with World Series experience and we went out and got a coach with World Series experience. I was excited. Glad my excitement is still present. In Jay We Trust.

I was happy as a lark because Maneri was gone. I didnt dislike him but the game had passed him by when he left.

I had no clue who he was.
Honestly, I wanted Vitello. Young guy who brought passion to his team. Pretty much the opposite of what Manieri had become.
Glad I was wrong.
Disclaimer about me: I wanted the Saints to draft Matt Leinart and thought Brees would be average. So ya know, I don’t know anything…

After his first press conference, I was sold. He talked about his offensive strategy, and that was all it took.

Does anyone know the username of the former Major League pitcher who use to post on here? He was telling us it was Jay Johnson, but nobody really seemed to believe him even though he was credible. It just seemed so weird.
I wish I could think of his name. He might have big an LSU commit that went pro instead, but still loves LSU sports. I could be wrong on this.
I'd love to see his posting history about knowing it was Jay Johnson.
His username was something like lsc500, idk like initials and numbers.
