T/F: never playing hurt all season leads to more of these bad injuries in the playoffs.

The idea I’m proposing is that if guys played through nagging stuff more often in the regular season, their bodies would be more used to playing when not 100% and it could reduce the likelihood of a terrible injury like Hali’s in the playoffs when they actually play hurt.

Basically your body and your mind learn how to play through things when you actually do it. Instead they sit all season whenever they have any discomfort or fatigue. Then in the playoffs when they play hurt or fatigued their body isn’t used to it and they suffer bad injuries like this Achilles tear.

The Achilles tear happened because he was playing hurt, so…

Eh, everything can be second guessed. He had a strained calf which increases that the likelihood of an achilles rupture much higher. I don't blame him playing but injuries happen in sports.

Tatum and Halliburton both played over 70 games so that's not it.

My point is that if his body was more used to playing through minor injuries and fatigue it might not have happened

Dr. Cosmo, why is it happening so late in the season? Does the Achilles tendon give out after 100 games or something?

Why Steph didn’t play. He’s good to go next season. A rupture Achilles at 37……..

Tore mine 26 years ago. Dan Marino. Many of us great athletes suffered from this terrible injury before the year 2000.

How many games did they play as middle and HS kids 20-30 years ago?

This is a really bad take. I know you want to fit the prima donna athlete image you have in your head, but this one and Durant’s happened precisely because they were playing when they probably should not have been.
