Globe Life Field

Howdy baws, was up in Ft Worth the last few days playing golf and wanted to drive by and see the newish ballpark. Didn't have time for a game but still find it odd that it's the third park they've had in such a short period. I'd been to games at old Arlington Stadium and admit it was miserable. Been to games at Global Life Park and ya it's hot but never found it terrible. I also thought it was an amazing park to visit.
Found out at the new park you can see quite a bit from the team store out in center field. Looking at it in person from there and looking at my brothers pictures when he went and the seating looks disjointed. It feels like sections randomly throw around each like multiple people designed it or if MC Escher painted it.
Curious how those who've actually been it in feel.

It sucks compared to the Ballpark. Super generic, sight lines aren't great for a modern park, and the atmosphere isn't as good.

Only games I attend are in seats immediately around home plate, so can't help you there

I did. Third base line was uninhabitable for at least 5 innings

Climate controlled

Sight lines are good, probably the best thing about the park. Even in the nose bleeds it's pretty good. I don't find the seat layout at all dusjointed. The interior is generic and the exterior design sucks. Looks like the hangar for a blimp.

It is the single worst baseball stadium I’ve ever been to. Hard to imagine designing something less fan friendly.
1. There is zero fan to player interaction because the field is so far down in a well. No kid will ever get an autograph or a tossed ball at this stadium.
2. when the roof is closed it feels like an airport hanger with even less charm,
3. the food options are atrocious. You go to a game in Cleveland, for example, and the outfield is a large concourse with open flame grills cooking brats, hot dogs, peppers and onions. Nothing like that exists.
4. The soulless grift of the concourses is impressive. You can buy a real cork from the a champagne bottle used in a locker celebration for $60 at the team store.
5. It is in the middle of nowhere America in a sea of parking lots with the carcasses of old stadiums next door.
6. For the reasons stated above, you will be in a largely empty tin box as a fan wondering how in the world they screwed this up so badly if you go.
On the other hand, first rate conferences rooms for your next corporate event do exist with great views of the field.

Interesting thoughts guy, I will say the team store is large and has cool stuff.

good. hopefully we’ll have less traveling fans(read:people who left places that sucked bad enough that they end up in middle of nowhere America)

Pales in comparison to the Ballpark.
The area around the stadium is worth exploring.

Love it, in summer I love a game there. It was insane they played without a roof for so long.

They really couldn’t just put a roof over The Ballpark in Arlington?

I'm not an engineer but I imagine retrofitting a structure with a retractable roof would be difficult.

I’m not this negative on it, but I do think building a big indoor box like that makes it lack character. But that’s what people wanted.
I wanna go sit down on the lower field level at some point in the expensive seats. Maybe I’ll feel different after doing that.

It is just fine for the soul less, corporate masses that make up the Metroplex. And I say this as someone who is a big Rangers fan.

Was there a few weeks ago and that’s what stuck out to me. Inside it’s nice enough, but the outside of it looks like a shed.

Globe life was miserable in the summer don’t let nobody tell you any different

Grew up watching games with dad at old Arlington Stadium which was terrible but I didn’t know any better.
The Ballpark was amazing. All of the seats pointed toward home plate. And the place was just gorgeous. The home run porch was a blast. MLB screwed or up by making the Rangers play day games. They used to not play them at all between June and August.
The new ballpark is an eyesore. Agree that the field is too low. I refuse to go to a game there because they screwed up the design so badly.

Followup question. Aside from the heat did anyone have anything they didn't like about the old park?

It's kind of a shame, Ballpark in Arlington was a great modern park with classic charm, like Camden. Globe Life seems soulless.
Now that I think about it, a soulless ballpark fits Dallas perfectly

I went to the open house they had before it opened while they were building it, was interesting watching how fast they could pour concrete in the outfield.
