Biggest AB of the game was Curiel

Down 0-2 in the count, any other left handed hitter would have swung at one of those pitches offered up by Root and struck out. But Curiel's uncanny plate discipline turned that AB into a walk to start a huge rally.

Instead of a man at first and 2 outs, all of a sudden it's 2 on and 1 out and pressure squarely on Root to get out of the jam.

His hit in the 8th against Gibler to score Milam was huge.

Back to a 3 run lead.

Jay moving Stanfield up in the order was huge. Otherwise Braswell strikes out in the second and who knows what happens.

He has one of the best eyes for pitches I have seen in a while. He has done very well laying off the inside breaking balls.

I remember Burrow’s draft eval showing he had a top 5% or better reaction rate between eye and hand. I think Curiel is one of those people too.

But according to this board he can't hit lefties.

The bunt by Dickerson was a thing of beauty. Honestly, I was surprised Root held the throw to first. It would’ve been close, but I think he had a chance.

Dickinson’s bunt was a thing of beauty. I can’t remember anyone at LSU that good at drag bunts. It was clearly a back breaker for Root. Root is always amped up so by Dickinson doing that in that moment, it cratered him mentally.

And he was totally overmatched on the first couple of pitches. Gibler made a mistake 0-2 and Curiel punished him.

Braswell getting hit on the foot was the biggest at bat because he didn't kill the rally

No according to Jay Johnson, Pearson is better against lefties. Take it up with Jay, lol.

Exactly, I got so excited when it happened because I figured this was gonna be an automatic out. Couldn't believe the good fortune.

Braswell needs to swing at first pitch.
It is always a strike pitch.

Stanfields hit was a momentum builder. It would have been bad had we not scored with runners in scoring position early in the game. It actually took out their starter. Nothing taken away from Curiel's hit tho.

It looked like the same nasty pitch on the 3rd pitch, but maybe it hung ever so slightly. It was a great adjustment to handle that 3rd pitch and make good contact. That was a huge run to crush their hopes.

best batting average vs lefties is frye then Pearson. I sont know what it is for curiel but its gotta be middle of the pack at best and probably below average at worst

No one said, in April, that he could not hit lefties in June. I was not one of those, BTW, but it's foolish to think comments made months ago, on a data set available at that time, can be evaluated against a different data set available today.
