i know that most people i agree with politically liked Ed and didn't hate Turner for the most part, but were sad to see Higalgo (re)elected and glad to see SJL lose.

He's referring to Judge Hildago a.k.a. Dora the Explorer Harris County judge that is up for re-election. She doesn't have the juice to win and so it looks like Annise Parker may get it.
