“OUR DEAL WITH CHINA IS DONE, SUBJECT TO FINAL APPROVAL WITH PRESIDENT XI AND ME. FULL MAGNETS, AND ANY NECESSARY RARE EARTHS, WILL BE SUPPLIED, UP FRONT, BY CHINA. LIKEWISE, WE WILL PROVIDE TO CHINA WHAT WAS AGREED TO, INCLUDING CHINESE STUDENTS USING OUR COLLEGES AND UNIVERSITIES (WHICH HAS ALWAYS BEEN GOOD WITH ME!). WE ARE GETTING A TOTAL OF 55% TARIFFS, CHINA IS GETTING 10%. RELATIONSHIP IS EXCELLENT! THANK YOU FOR YOUR ATTENTION TO THIS MATTER!”

Trump beat them on trade in his first term and made them bend the knee. Their GDP was getting crushed and they came to the table and took a deal that the US got the much better end of. Jared Kushner’s book talks about it and it was amazing.

Looks like Trump got them again.

First term trade deal

Wait so China is charging us 55% tariffs and we only are charging them 10%?

How is that a win? Xi just bent Trump over and spanked him

Or am I reading that wrong? Trump worded it weird

The US is charging 55% and China is charging 10%.

Trump won, bigly.

You have it backwards

Meanwhile, China agreed to lower its tariffs on most US goods from 125% to 10%.

That trade truce was meant to give the two sides until Aug. 10 to broker a more comprehensive deal on trade.

The 55% tariff rate Trump announced Wednesday refers to the 10% baseline rate the president slapped on nearly all countries, the 20% rate he levied on Beijing due to the fentanyl crisis as well as roughly 25% for preexisting tariffs from Section 301, most favored nation and elsewhere, a White House official told The Post

Last time we reached an agreement with the ChiComs, they shut the planet down 2 months later in their part to overthrow Trump.

It would be nice for people here to get their predictions in BEFORE the announcement (if it ever actually comes).

Here's mine:

Something extremely anodyne that barely moves the needle and that doesn't hold their feet to the fire on anything we care about (IP theft, AI, chips, etc.)

The Chinese can't be trusted to follow anything outside of a deal that easily be enforced. They see us as the enemy and would like nothing more than to see the US be weakened. A lot of them think we will be lobbing missiles at each other in the next 5 years.

The fact that the Chinese intentionally put into the deal guarantees about letting their students continue to attend universities is a bit sketchy. Especially after those Michigan students brought in that wheat blight for "research". And that is what we caught.

I'd like to see Trump put some major restrictions on these guys with major CCP alliances.
