Randomly found this beauty: Deadline
The moment I saw Seth Rogen, I knew this was going to be butchered.

‘Animal Farm’ Review: Andy Serkis Directs Seth Rogen And All-Star Voice Cast In Clever And Chilling Take On Orwell’s Classic Novella – Annecy Animation Festival
The moment I saw Seth Rogen, I knew this was going to be butchered.
quote:
George Orwell had a unique talent for predicting the future in his books, notably 1984, but now seeing director Andy Serkis‘ new animated take on Orwell’s 1945 all-too-predictive allegory and satirical story, Animal Farm, he seems more like a Nostradamas than ever. With a screenplay, alternately funny and frighteningly perceptive by Nicholas Stoller, this gorgeously animated version is not outwardly trying to be political but nevertheless is uncannily meeting its time and proving to be a little too close for comfort to America’s drift toward authoritarianism.
quote:
How did Orwell know this little parable he meant to mirror the 1917 Russian revolution, read by school kids for decades, could become so relevant in 2025, and for that matter how did these filmmakers and Serkis know? He started his quest to bring this new version to the screen at least as far back to 2013, three years before Donald Trump was elected for his first term, and fully eleven years before he returned to finish the job he started. But actually, the scenario Animal Farm paints has relevance for countries around the world who are experiencing these kinds of dictator-wannabes

Covid was a masterclass on herd control. I can listen to the argument that Trump is authoritarian in some respects. I might even agree a little. But to act is if 2020-2021 wasn't high level Orwellian shite is to either to be disingenuous or ignorant.

Oh I understand that for sure. Which is why it’s so egregious when the author/creator explicitly tells the audience what the symbolism is about/for.
This is why authoritarian governments want to undo/erase the past so that people cannot learn from it and/or draw their own conclusions on the current/future road they’re on.

So now lefties are reproducing Russian art to try and show how Trump is equal to a leftist authoritarian regime?

This would seem to be the case. The first comment on that article says this with the second being someone calling him crazy for simply telling the truth

So now lefties are reproducing Russian art

Communism will always sound good to irresponsible and immature people.
Hell, when I was 8 years old, I asked why can't everything be free? My dad explained it to me in about a minute and it made sense at that age why things don't work that way.

You realize George Orwell is British right? You obviously didn't read the book if you think it's Russian art

There's no ambiguity in Animal Farm. Not even a little. Snowball represented Trotsky and Napoleon represented Stalin. They were both "authoritarian" but had different methods.
So I guess in this dumb shite. Biden/Kamala are Snowball and Trump is Napoleon.
