I flew in 2023 out of NO. Getting home was awful. Every friend that drove beat us home by several hours.

Try to stay away from Chicago airport

Who in their right mind would drive 15 hours vs taking a flight if money isn’t an issue. Why are you even asking this

You’ve obviously never experienced the pure joy and elation of driving through America’s Heartland.

Is an Amtrak train an option? That would be different and maybe enjoyable sitting on a train and pounding pappy van winkle for 10-12 hours

It’s not 15 hrs from central/north Louisiana. I drove in 23. Took me about 10 hrs. Not a bad drive at all.

I flew to Des Moines, rented a car, and drove from there. Avoided the crush.

Fly. And if you are smart selecting a place to stay, you won’t need a car once you get there.

Ain’t no train getting you from Louisiana to Omaha in any reasonable amount of time. It would probably take two days to go from New Orleans to Chicago to Omaha.

Flights out were cancelled for like two days back in 2023. Had to take an Uber to airport in Iowa just to get home.

Drove in 17 and it wasn't bad.
