What exactly was “trumped up” about Griner’s charges? She admitted to violating the laws of another country. They might be harsh but so be it. That’s not trumped up. So Mulkey should be defending a scofflaw?

Under general contract principles, he is still under contract and he needs to perform competently to avoid termination for cause which would wipe out any termination payments. Loyalty, competency, good conduct, etc.

The contract itself would have a section that specifically defines cause.
