It blows my mind how these video game developers do not learn their lesson after countless failures of this type of nonsense.

A game where black people steal?

Kind of on the nose, isn't it?

I don't oppose this game if Italians and Greeks could go steal their shite back as well.

This may be the peak of woke insanity mountain.

I honestly cannot fathom where it could go to get more insane than that.

So, I was a bit dumbfounded that someone would think a mass market game with this premise was anything resembling a good idea. So I looked up the game and the studio, and I'm a bit less shocked. This is a very, very indy looking game made by a fairly small studio in South Africa: LINK

Do I think this game will be successful? No, probably not, unless the gameplay is just absolutely amazing, which I very seriously doubt. But, it wouldn't surprise me if the purpose of this title was to get the studio's name out there, and if that was the goal, then this all makes a lot more sense.

It’s become increasingly clear the past few years the publishers of these games don’t consider sales when developing business plans. Their budgets are created based on projected tax credits, grants, and messaging.

Marketing is their primary source of revenue. The games they produce is a byproduct of their efforts.

They say representation matters. I'm just glad to see those guys who took my basketball at the rec center finally get some representation in the gaming space.

But they aren’t. The owners are making money. It’s no different than the movie tax credits and the Hollywood accounting practices. The key is properly packaging your product, then finding the lowest cost help available that qualify. If the movie takes off you make a killing. But the worst case scenario is it fails and the company folds…but that doesn’t happen until the producers get their salaries.

Look at Yale entertainment. They ran up $50 mil in liabilities and are about to declare bankruptcy…yet throughout their tenure the producers were the first paid and pulled in $175k/mo for their efforts.
