Well, Jay is clearly under-market.

Not that surprising. The market for coach/players salaries are basically reset each year as teams win championships and new big name coaches are hired.

If that happens he'll ask for 3.1 and he'll get it.

Gotta say, I respect MSU for going all in on baseball. You know damn well they don't have the money of those other programs. It's a good idea to spend your money where you can win.

can’t imagine he would make less than anyone if he wins a second NC in 4 years.

Hard to say MS State doesn’t have the money after putting up ~70M for the Dudy Noble renovation.

I’d say it’s more of allocating further resources towards baseball knowing that’s they only sport they’re relevant in.

#4 making a lot of money for someone that's never won a title.

What was Schloss making at A&M? He must have just wanted out of there to jump ship after a championship appearance.

Vitello, O'Connor, and Schloss all signed deals after Jay's extension in 2023. At that time, his total contract was only surpassed by Tim Corbin.

His deal runs through 2030, so I'm not sure how motivated LSU is to re-up. If he won another title this year, they'd have no choice but to renegotiate.

Especially when LSU is paying Mulkey over 3M when her program already has more than twice the deficit of any other program at LSU.

Seems insane teams are paying $3M already, gotta be losing money in the program paying that out.

I wish there would just be really big incentive pays on the salary. Not like $100k or $200k for winning a natty, but maybe $1M for winning a natty, and keep Jay closer to $2M base

$2M base
$100k for SEC regular season title

These 4 are not additive, just get the bonus for whatever he ends at
$100k for making NCAAT
$250k for getting to super regional
$500k for getting to CWS
$1M for winning CWS

Maybe even break it down to something like host a regional is $125k bonus vs. $75k for getting sent somewhere for a regional. Then $200k for getting to a super vs. $300k for hosting the super, etc...

It’s nice to know Jay will never leverage LSU to pay him more in fear of leaving for somewhere else.

The more he wins, the more he’ll get paid.
