surprising Jay is that low. this needs to be remedied in the off season.

It has to be. He recruits like a motherfricker and is a damn good coach. We have to keep him here.

I mean they probably had to even get him in the first place. He's been at UVA forever, he wasnt probably leaving there for $1.5M-$2M (he was making $1.4M). They literally just had to double his pay go get him out of there.

His deal runs through 2030, so I'm not sure how motivated LSU is to re-up

Uhh, look at BK and McM and tell me who the best men's coach is at LSU, he doesn't have to win a natty this year to get a bump. MSU overpaying big time for UVA coach. Good friend of mine and UVA alum was glad to see him go.

Seems insane teams are paying $3M already, gotta be losing money in the program paying that out.

It is my understanding that pretty much every college baseball program loses money every year. At least that's how it used to be. I remember hearing at one time back in the 90s that only 2 colleges actually broke even or made money, Texas and LSU. Not sure if that is still the case though.

I saw this linked on the West Virginia 247 board
Comparing Revenue and Expenses for WVU and LSU baseball

Not sure how accurate it is because the concessions are definitely wrong. But according to this both programs lost about $2M last year. Difference is we spent 5x what they did to get there. Sure there's some opportunity cost that from spending $8M to lose money when you could spend $1.6M and lose the same amount, but there's a lot of intangible gains from the brand and excitement that comes from having a big time baseball program

Gotta say, I respect MSU for going all in on baseball

Mississippi State and Ron Polk were one of the first, if not the first, school to prioritize baseball in the SEC.

He was the first. He deserves lots of respect.

Other operating expenses

LSU: $2,517,708
WVU: $17,101

Total operating expenses

LSU: $9,989,478
WVU: $3,815,475

I like how LSU just has 25% of their expenses lumped into "other operating expenses"
