We are currently on our trip in central to northern California. Started at Yosemite then Kings Canyon /Sequoia National Park. We are currently staying in the Monterey area and drove down to Big Sur. While I kind of knew what we were in store for, every place we have been exceeded my expectations. And the weather is fantastic.

See Hearst Castle if you can. 2 tours to see all the best areas. Enjoy!

Wanted to see that but the PCH is closed in that direction and the detour was too far out of the way.

Sounds like an awesome trip! Any Monterey / Carmel-by-the-Sea hotel recommendations?

I did a very similar trip last summer

Flew into LA, drove to Sequoia and Kings Canyon. Spent 3 nights in Yosemite then on to Monterey for a few nights. Drove down to Big Sur and had lunch at Nepenthe. We took Hwy 1 as far as we could and passed through Santa Barbara, Malibu, Pacific Palisades, and then ended with a few nights in LA. It was a great trip.

Yosemite is amazing, and Monterey/Carmel might be my favorite area to visit in the US

Mission Ranch Restaurant
This is a good place to eat. Eat outside and enjoy the mountains and the ocean views.

We were only staying 1 night at the hotel we were at. The room was nothing great but the view was fantastic. Lovers Point Inn is where we stayed. Kind of like the old style beach hotels that used to be very prevalent on the Florida coast. Very chilly though even in June.

Find you some big pine cones for souvenirs. They’re in that area. Coulters and diggers.
