For the first time since the U.S. created an international group to coordinate military aid to Ukraine three years ago, America’s Pentagon chief will not be in attendance when more than 50 other defense leaders meet Wednesday.

Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who returned from a national security conference in Singapore on Sunday, will not arrive in Brussels until Wednesday evening, after the Ukraine Defense Contact Group’s meeting is over.

A U.S. official, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss scheduling details, confirmed that Hegseth also will not participate by video conference.

I don't understand what is happening. Trump seems to be fine with Senators and other people handling Ukraine for now.

ReSiSt Hegseth.

Resist the marxist and legal tyrants taking over.

Resist. From the river (Missisippi) to the sea (either one - Pacific or Atlantic) America will be free.

As long as you say it is 'resistance' it's ok democrats? right?

It’s difficult to explain.

Trump apparently wants to give the world the impression that his govt. has no cohesion at all.

So, Trump is going to allow the flow of aid to Ukraine to be re-opened? More disappointment.

Congress is an independent branch. They can visit, speak on, control the purse strings (open or close), and 'handle' all they want all by their lonesome. Just like crafting, modifying, and passing shitty bills (or good ones) all by their lonesome.

In fact, more power rests with Congress than the other two branches by far.

ETA: the reason Trump is silent is because he is being extorted by both parties on OBB. Which, on one hand is a strategic mistake by Trump for backing it instead of criticizing Johnson to put himself in that position (IF that's his true position). On the other hand, he should break the extortion since he's neck deep with support already by claiming they (Senators) are the reason it is bad bill because of their amendments/reconcilliations. There's a reason the Senate went full retard all of a sudden, and that reason is because they hold the OBB and tax cuts in their hands.

No. It appears that he is letting Putin know that Putin has left him no choice but to let the MIC eat if he doesn’t get serious about negotiating.

Well, I will admit that I thought he was giving approval to Lindsey Graham, since he has been radio silent about it for the past five days.

So maybe he is giving approval, but he just doesn’t want his cabinet to be involved.

Both sides need to stop while they are negotiating.

I do wonder if Miss Lindsay went to Trump and said “let me play bad cop, I can help you out, help push the negotiations.”

It’s possible.

Trump is the only politician in my lifetime who is truly fighting for the common man, the one who actually has a job or wants a real job and actually works.

Ask yourself, who are Trump's enemies? That will tell you who he fights for. It will also tell you that Trump's enemies are fighting to keep everyday Americans down.

to be clear: I stated a strategic mistake in dealing with congress. Not necessarily bad policy or intent.

OBB is CONGRESS' bill; they wrote it. They voted on it. Trump requested a whole list of things... requested.

His choice was to back it as written by them, or not (meaning call them out on it). He chose to back it as a matter of realpolitik. IMHO, he should have forced their hand by openly stating that wasn't what he requested. Either way, it's still their bill... it was only a matter of public perception of whose bill it is all I'm arguing.

ETA: who are Trump's real enemies? Well, add Johnson and R's in congress to the list. Just look at Massie. He laid his criticisms about OBB on Trump as a sitting member of Congress- where he works. It's like an engineer at Boeing blaming Musk for Boeing not being able to rescue the astronauts. Did Massie put any amendments on the floor for debate?

It's not his government. He heads one branch.

Posobiec and Bannon are still saying Mike Pompeo and rogue agents are running around gumming the whole thing up. Then we have the attacks on the civilian train that Posobiec says chatter is saying rogue agent involvement.
