Southwest Harbor, Maine. It’s 53 degrees and I’m sipping bourbon outside.

If you can stomach all the rainbow flags and other goofy shite, this place is heaven.

Get back to me in December. I'll be in Louisiana, outside, sipping bourbon in 53 degrees

There's no rainbow flags in heaven.

I’m sipping bourbon in a hotel room in Dothan Alabama. If you can stomach the people and bland food it’s not that bad a place.

I really can’t.
Well, I do when we’re at our house in Missoula. But I just avoid the worst of it. Like Methodist and PC(USA) “churches.” No flags in the wilderness.

I can attest that Southwest Harbor is very nice in the summer. Enjoy the blueberries, ice cream, and lobster. Stop over at the Hinckley yard while you’re there.

So you say you “cannot stand it”, but then own a home in a liberal college town and say you do…strange

Big fan of southwest harbor.
Boothbay harbor is pretty sweet too.

Man, that sounds wonderful! I am not very social, so liberal vs. conservative really doesn’t affect me much. Though, I think I would really enjoy the easy-going nature of rural Maine.

Did I stutter?
Eta: I lived in Atlanta right by Emory for 20 years and couldn’t really “stomach” the “in this house” bullshite either. (And Irish Channel before that and Silicon Valley before that.)
Finally moved somewhere for the Southern base where such things would be peppered with bird shot and/or burned.
I bought the Missoula house 20 years ago, when there wasn’t the absurd woke shite in your face. Still had a regular old school college and mountain vibe. But it’s still gorgeous and the kids love the wilderness.

Gotta overlook worse things daily here in Louisiana… many of which make the daily news

We visited that area in 2022. Stopped at this unassuming place for a drink and they had Pliny the Elder on draft.
Hogdon Seafood in Seal Cove stands out for lobster rolls or live lobster, and Castine for kayaking.
Our kayak guide recently graduated from college in Maine but was born in my hometown in Louisiana before moving to Maine as a child.
Small world.
