What does one do with this? Seems strangely vague.
This the new easiest major in college?

Sell cars, make $60k in an athletic department, sell insurance, etc

Just can’t imagine the course work.

Like most other degrees, it only works for 1-5% of graduates in that degree. Other than those select few, everyone else will have normal jobs like the rest of us. It all depends on the situation.

Basically like a general business degree with a concentration in the sport industry (sport finance, sport marketing, sport law, etc). The big thing will be a culminating internship.
Is your son considering Sport Management at UF? If so, it's an outstanding program. One of the best in the country in that field.

Dominate their fantasy football league.

It’s what I majored in. To be honest it’s a dumbed down business degree for the athletes on campus with some sports focused classes. Haven’t used a single thing in my career, granted I didn’t really learn shite lol.

You need contacts to do anything in the sports management world. You better have a personality, be connected to young players or agents, etc
And that’s even the sports law certificate at Tulane law school, not the undergrad degree
Just a regular Joe? It’s a waste

No degree needed. You just need to find a kid to write some Python code and fill in the blanks and then hope for no injuries.

The academic advisor has pushed him in this direction…he was going to study Plant Science and do turf management, but she told him that route had some basic science classes this fall that would be quite difficult considering everything else. That route was more of our idea…but we wondered how he’d compete with the general population at UF.

I know someone with a sports management degree. After college, he got a job at his university and spent most of his time maintaining the football and baseball fields. He eventually quit and is now a manager at a fast food restaurant

It’s for athletes that find general studies too difficult. You can work the front desk at Planet Fitness.

He’ll have a ton of advantages over normal students with advisors, study hours, etc. the only thing about turf management, is from my understanding, is internships are critical and he’ll be busy in the summer. Your kid is a fricking kicker, that shite ain’t gonna last forever

Got this degree at LSU and felt like a watered down business degree. Did go on to work for an NBA team for 6 years following graduation but now have spent the last 5 years in the liquor industry. Wouldn’t save I’ve used any part of the degree even once lol

daughter has a minor in that, finance major, she worked for the Cowboys for 10 years but that wasn’t a requirement nor was it needed

I graduated in sports management over 20 years ago. It was a fairly new degree back then, so much of the course work was still actually under kinesiology, there was some business courses in there too obviously. To work in college athletics or professional level, you will need a degree, and often times schools can offer a foot in the door to sports management majors. Entry level type stuff mostly, but like anything else, you have to start somewhere. If you have some type of inkling of a plan of what you want to do, it can be a worthwhile degree to get. What do you do? Work in athletics, which depending on where you are at, could be selling tickets, counting money, setting up athletics fields, organizing media sessions. When you work in athletics, on any level, you will get asked to do many things, and often things you are not qualified to do

Does kicking really require the time where "basic science" courses would be too difficult?

Sports mgmt here. It required 145 hours with a full semester of an internship. It was not an easy degree. I wanted to remain in the sports world
