This entire pitching staff tonight reeks of Jay leaving his best for tomorrow

From starting Noot to the relievers that came in immediately after. I think Jay was hoping he could get through tonight and save Evans and Cowan if he needed. Unfortunately he’s going to need it.

Can down vote all you want but I’d be interested to hear an opinion otherwise

We only scored 4 runs. Maybe it was for the best.

Are we even sure Evans, Cowan, and whoever else they needed would have held them under 4?

Based on recent play, I say no.

Jay relies on analytics to a fault. Practically every fans gut (even Johnson’s) was screaming to take Shores out way before he walked the bases loaded, but there’s those nagging analytics.

He wasn’t looking to save anyone, but that doesn’t mean he’s going to burn them early either. Starting Noot was a reasonable decision given his play lately and the fact that Evans has been a little shaky lately. You’re not going to burn Evans or Cowan in the 2nd inning when Shores came in. After that it was just a matter of us never having the lead again.

I agree. Cowan’s command hasn’t been good his last few outings, and Evans still is way too inefficient.

Our worst should have been able to handle this team.

We will strongly depend on Evans and Cowan tomorrow

I guarantee the plan tonight was use those guys if LSU had a lead going into 5th inning, maybe even the 4th, to bring it home.

Noot and Shores shite the bed though and you can burn those guys while you’re behind.

Well in case they give up runs we damn sure better be scoring runs, and I believe we will be. I’m confident we show up bigly tomorrow night.

We have a losing record on the weekend when Kade nor Eyanson are on the mound. Jay wasn’t leaving anything, it’s June and he’s still trying to figure out how to make this a more competitive game three team

I don't have a problem with his decision at all. If you look at the last 3-4 weeks, Noot and Shores had actually pitched better than Evans and Cowan. He figured those two would be plenty enough. No way Little Rock could shut down our offense with that pitching staff, right?

i think going into the game Noot looked fine on paper

Shores looked fine on paper

they gave up 6 runs and we scored 4 all game.

a jay didn’t burn Cowans, Evans or Ware.

Which is why I am so glad LSU didn't go with this approach in game one.

And it's good thing they didn't use their better arms tonight given the runs weren't there. LSU has to score more than 4 runs to win.

Hopefully LSU can put up 10+ Monday.
