Was 2023 to Jay Johnson what 2019 was to Ed Oregon?

2-3 generational players masking shortcomings

Starting to look like Skenes and Crews was his Burrow/JJ/Chase if we get put out by this sorry arse team tomorrow

Couldn't careless what he did at Arizona

Matters if you’re trying to make dumbass comparisons

Not gonna get a lot of nuanced answers right now

I don't recall ever saying Ed Oregon was a better football coach than Jay Johnson is a baseball coach
Pretty obvious this is about their tenures at LSU. What does Jay getting Arizona to Omaha due for his LSU legacy?

Well, outside of 2023, Jay hasn't made it to a super regional and it's now iffy this year. That's an issue with the resources and talent we have.

Orgeron never sniffed a bowl at Ole Miss, whereas Jay got to Omaha twice at Arizona.
And then, if you want to say 2019=2023, Orgeron didn't see a bowl afterward (or have his team above .500).
Jay had his team make a regional last year, and this year finished the regular season #1 and is a regional host and national seed. And just to be clear, this season isn't over yet, and we will be favored to win tomorrow, which means we would host the super regional.
So, I'd say Jay was more successful than Ed both before and after his title. I know that isn't as fun as melting all over the place like this board is doing, but it's the truth.

I've never said Ed Oregon was a better coach than Jay Johnson lol
I'm strictly talking about accomplishments in Baton Rouge without absolute athletic freaks. FWIW , I don't think it's that bad for Johnson yet. Losing tomorrow absolutely puts a dent in his tenure though

If you're referring to his time at Arizona, no one gives a shite.
2022 - bounced in USM regional
2024 - bounced in UNC regional
2025 - bounced in LSU regional?

I have no idea why people in this thread are bringing up what the man did at Arizona. It seems pretty obvious im talking about both coaches' tenures at LSU with LSU athletes and LSU resources

So why not compare him to saban. Since he only won 1 national championship at lsu
