I guess my theater went up on ticket prices again. It is now $16 a ticket for a weekend night to see a movie for one person. Am I crazy or is that ridiculous?

They're up to $5.75 on Tuesday. This inflation is getting out of control

I'm in CA. I'm about to go watch Mission Impossible in Imax. Tickets are $22 for adults, $19 for a child. It's crazy

Where are you? It was that years ago down here in palm beach county. I’d take that for sure. It’s 20+ now

Man. Movie tickets were a shitty value 20 years ago. I don't know why anyone wastes money on them, now.
Nothing like paying $20+ to listen to some troglodyte yammer on their phone right in front of you for an hour while you try and unstick your feet from the floor.

We have a locally-owned theater where tickets are $7.50 for standard showings.
Free refills on everything. Recliner seats, no difference in experience.
It’s the only way I can justify going to movies with family of 5.

I think the Alamo in Houston is $11 before a convenience fee of a couple of bucks, maybe $3. They have a monthly unlimited movie pass, and Tuesdays are discounted, because they understand the point is to get your arse in the seat paying for food and beer.
The Cinemark I was forced to patronize got me 3 tickets for $24.50; two were for kids, but they were only a dollar cheaper than my adult ticket IIRC.

They were like $4.50 when I managed movie theatres in Texas around 1984, so I think that is about right.

I wouldn’t mind paying a premium if it were guaranteed to keep the riff raff out.

Last time I went to see a movie in a cinema it was right at $50 for the wife and I.
Two tickets, two popcorns and 2 sodas and we saw "Top Gun-Maverick", so that was what?? 3 years ago....
