Most UNDERRATED 1-2 Pitching Duo in LSU history

Offense is fun and helps win games but you cannot win a title without elite pitching.
We have had some amazing 1-2 starting duos but it feels like the rest of the world is just now learning who they are.
If Kade Anderson can continue to pitch like last night, and we get to Omaha, he literally could become the 1-2 pick in the draft. But also, they are 1-2 in K’s in the country. Idk if that’s ever happened to us
It just feels like people outside of LSU fans had no clue how good those two guys are, thoughts?
For reference, here were some great duos…
2023: Skenes/Floyd
2015-17: Lange/Poche
2013: Nola/Eades
2012: Gausman/Nola/Eades
2009: Coleman/Ranaudo
2000: Tallet/Gomez
1993: Layton/Sirotka
1991: Sirotka/Ogea
1989: McDonald/Leskanic

Remember when this board wanted eyanson replaced in rotation

Paul Skenes was one of my favorite athletes to ever come through LSU. I don't recall ever having so much confidence that someone could come in like he did, and you just knew the other team was going to struggle offensively. And it was his consistency every damn game and the confidence that you could chalk up a win whenever he took the mound almost.
Wake Forest and LSU two years ago sort of still gives me chills with that 0-0 game through 13 innings.

People are gonna forget how good Holman/Jump were last year.

Jump & Holman last year were both top 75 picks. Crazy they are always overlooked

Skenes was the most “auto win” type pitcher in college history. The other teams just looked dejected after the first inning every time. Like they should just forfeit.

LSU has had some really good 1-2 duo’s over the years but the #2 guy has always been a clear #2. Gausman/NOLA outside of Skenes Floyd was up until this year probably #2 all time.
That being said Anderson/AE is the best 1-2 punch I’ve seen in my 53 years. I know most will say Skenes/Floyd. AE is a much better pitcher than Floyd. He has much better ERA, SO9,BB9, WHIP and HR9.
Floyd gave up 16 HR his junior year. AE has only given up 4 all season. That .04 per 9 innings which is elite.

Yep. Its 1a and 1b
Other years it was more defined 1 and 2

1991 the 1-2 was Chad Ogea and Paul Byrd. (Both solid MLB careers)
1993 the 1-2 was Mike Sirotka (far and away the ace) and Brett Laxton

Eyanson is predicted to be a late first early second round pick. He could make himself a lot of money with this run if LSU can make it to the final game. I don’t believe he will make it all the way to the second pick in the draft though. It’s pretty certain that the Holliday kid will go in one of those spots, likely the first pick. Anderson is a more polished pitcher than Doyle. I am not sure why there is so much hype for Doyle. He doesn’t have near the control Anderson has.

I doubt LSU has ever had two of the top 4 strikeout pitchers in a season.
And who the heck is Layton from '93? I don't recall that name.

'89 also had Russ Springer as a Starter

Wow, how lucky are we? Thats a list right there.
And these 2 are as good as we ever had.

These guys are way more underrated than Anderson and Eyanson. People know how good Anderson and Eyanson are. Holman and Jump have comparable numbers and aren't even mentioned by OP

A lot will depend on asking price to where someone is selected even in the top ten
Anderson will go high but he also has a lot of leverage to work with as a soph

He has 15.8 SO per 9. That’s elite. He is good but I wouldn’t take him
Over Anderson or AE. He lets his emotions get the best of him at times. Anderson and AE are cool customers on the mound. Rarely do you see them show much emotion until the job is done. All business. I attribute that to Jay and his approach.

Everyone remembers Laxton for his performance in the Title game, but Scott Schultz was a starter on that squad.
Schultz is underrated, he was LSU career wins leader until Jared Poche.
