Any else watching it this weekend? About to pop on HBO Max

I’m looking forward to it

I am a big fan of Succession.
I enjoy political satires like the Death of Stalin and classics like Network and Being There. While Don’t Look Up isn’t great, I suspect I like it more than most on this board.
I watched Mountainhead last night after the Pacers-Knicks game
I’m probably in the target demographic for this movie as I’m online enough that the following names mean something to me:
Curtis Yarvin, Jason Calcannis (and all of his buddies in the All In Podcast), Paul Graham, Peter Thiel, Sam Altman
First of all, any movie that is enhanced by knowing who all of these people are is aimed at a tiny percentage of even the HBO audience.
Therefore, I can see why there was limited marketing for this. It’s not as bad as the negative reviews say, but it is certainly no Succession
Also the casting and screenplay are weaker than I would have expected. The only guys who really pull of the roles are Jason Schwartzman and to an extent, Ramy Youssef. It might just be due to his previous roles, but Steve Carell seemed miscast.
I’d give it a 5.5/10

Thought this movie sucked. 90+ minutes of the same message (big tech only cares about money/power and doesn't give a shite who their tech hurts) being relentlessly beaten into the audience's head. I don't even disagree with the message but the writing seemed lazy.

I thought it had promise to be smart and thought provoking but it ended up being dumb. Maybe it was supposed to be a dark comedy?

Pure dogshit. And I loved succession. Seemed like they had the idea for something and put the succession flash on it (at least the first act) and then they wrote a completely boring screenplay. We get it, tech bro billionaires are probably not great people.

This was really bad. I tried to enjoy it and understood the premise but just a waste of time for me..
The third act was stupid.

My wife and I tried to watch it over the weekend and bailed on it after about 30 minutes. It was terrible.

You had my courage than me to try to get your wife to watch it. I applaud you for that

yeah. i definitely got the All In vibes from them. Albeit, even when i disagree with them, I think that most of the All In guys are a benevolent force and this was a very harsh caricature of them. i was pretty familiar with all of the references they were making.

i thought it was fine. I enjoy the Steve Carrell a-hole arc of his career. the only i really really didn't like was Venis. he's one of the actors i'm supposed to like because he's so versatile and really he's just overly gay and plastic and it shines through.

My wiff and I ejected after about 20 minutes.

Hard pass. Seems like a moral story in there somewhere in the place of comedy

Yep, I didn't finish it and never will.

Had low expectations after reading bad reviews but I still enjoyed it. Funny moments. Don’t take it too seriously

Perfect approach for those don’t follow as close as others!
