Finished this series last night. Interesting show. I honestly cant say I know now what happened. Is this a show where finding out answers is just not part of the ending?

We learned that about Kevin and Nora but thats about it.......

Am I supposed to believe that Nora "actually" got in the Delorean, got up to 88mph and headed to the alternate dimension, somehow found her family, then decided not to engage, found the designer of the machine, blew him so he would "then" put the effort in to fly her back to 1985 where she decided NOT to engage with anyone again that she knew and just live in exile?

Or was she lying to he love connection at the end to just see if he would believe her?

Pretty much the central question of the ending of the show

I am in the camp of Nora didn't go through. She got scared and canceled at the last second. And everyone else that "went through" just burned up.

Fantastic show. One of the GOATS.

I believe she was lying, but Kevin believed her because he loved her (& there's so much more to it). There are many fascinating breakdowns of the series on youtube. My favorite show ever so I delved into quite a few of them. Proceed at your own risk.

I view the entire show as Garvey is the audience insert and that we're supposed to fall in love with Nora.

Everything else is just semantics. Do you believe her?

I believe she was lying. Story is too absurd.

I finished it for the first time a few months ago as well. I liked it a good bit, but found it pretty overrated by some on this board. It’s nowhere near GOAT-level anything for me. But it’s still a really good show and it stuck with me for a while after I finished.

I also found that it got worse as it went on for me. I loved the first season. The second one was good but not as good. And the third one was decent and went off the rails a little too much for me.

I’m also in the camp that she did go through and found her family. At least that’s what I choose to believe anyway. I do think it is arguable, and even likely, that she never went through. But I like to believe she did and her explanation to Kevin made sense to me. I never thought about it from the perspective of the people who vanished and how to them, almost everybody in the world vanished. That has to be a hard pill to swallow. The most unbelievable part to me about her going to the other side was that she wouldn’t have contacted her kids. If you actually made it there and found them there’s almost zero chance you’d turn back and come home, let alone without even letting your kids know you’re there or that you love them. That’s my biggest hangup on believing that she went through, but I still prefer to believe that she did.

I also am in the minority in that I hated the dream sequence episodes with Kevin as the assassin or whatever. Thought those were pretty bad.

I agree, basically word for word

The show was at its absolute best in season 1 when it was a case study on dealing with the unexplainable. The closer we got to potentially understanding any of it, the less impact each new episode had.

The ending of season 1 was one of my favorite episodes of any show ever. Wonderful, slow burn buildup all season to an unexpected, and yet totally inevitable, perfectly executed payoff.

I personally disagree. Or just view it as it's told.

I don't think Nora has a reason to lie. And also being devastated enough to know that her family had moved on and was living a happy, normal life was also devastating enough for her to want to start completely over in isolation. Also her and Kevins breakup was pretty devastating, not just a call and make up breakup. he basically told her to kill herself. That will make you move on.

Her and Kevin’s relationship was always toxic. It was at the end as they were still
Lying to each other.

I think this had more to do with kevin being crazy and her just never coming to terms with the original departure of her family.

Considering the world they were living in, and the things that had happened to them, and also Kevin going crazy for the majority of it, I'd say it wasn't toxic and they were doing about the best they could. I'm not saying it's a normal relationship by any means But years went by in this and given their relationship was new and they were right off the bat raising a random baby throughout the majority of it, I'd say they were doing pretty good.

Refresh my memory, what were they lying about at the end?
