Yes I know it will benefit Dems if they regain all 3 branches. But if we keep it, the best we can hope for in legislation is the terrible BBB bill that still adds a ton of debt and cuts very little spending.

80% of Trumps agenda won’t be put into law and all his EOs will be undone by the next D president. The odds of a 60+ GOP senate majority anytime soon are slim to none.

End th filibuster and ram Trumps agenda through. All of it. Deportations, immigration law, tax code, regulations, balance the budget. Get it all done and hope it has the effect we think it will so people will support it not being undone in the future.

If we keep it, then we still get huge deficits and more of the same with gridlocked Congress until we fall off the fiscal cliff.

Gridlock is usually good but not in this case when massive reform is needed. Take a shot and end the filibuster

They should get rid of the procedural filibuster. If a group can actually hold the floor like the old days more power to 'em.

You think being rid of the filibuster would make massive reform happen?

Delta, the call is coming from inside the house, here.

If you do, you are going to end up with massive legislative swings from election to election

The risk/reward on this is very unbalanced. Leave the filibuster in place please.

They should not remove the filibuster.

But they should threaten to remove the filibuster just to get the Dems on record saying removing the filibuster is a threat to their “DEMOCRACY”.

maybe instead of ramming trumps ah...agenda...through, the gop should consider why it's seeing such widespread disapproval

You realize that the Dems will get rid of it when they get control, right?

Except that, if we do not pass legislation, when Dems return to power, the country is finished. If we remove the procedural filibuster, Trump and Johnson can be turned loose to put us on the right path legislatively and potentially pass legislation desperately needed.

It wouldn't matter if they got the dems to say removing the filibuster would destroy "democracy". Once the dems gain control of the Senate, House, and Presidency they will 100% kill the filibuster and enact any and all legislation that they can dream up, starting with legislation focused on election reform. The dem leadership stated EXACTLY that leading up to this last election cycle. Also there is a reason that Sinema and Manchin refused to run for reelection, and the main one is because of all of the flack they received from the dems for standing in the way of it during their last term.

So make no mistake, the filibuster will be eliminated in our lifetime, but it'll be the dems that do it, and they will strike first to rig all future election rules to their favor. That is a fact. It's just a matter of time.

Yeah, the GOP really should be asking themselves why they're only polling 25-30% higher than the lowly Dems when President Trump is sky high and rising.

For anyone that is questioning the dems goal for the filibuster once they regain control, here is Schumer's own words on what they are planning on doing.

quote:

Voicing confidence that Vice President Kamala Harris and Democrats will win the election, Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said he’s eyeing changes to the 60-vote filibuster rule to pass a pair of major bills that would expand voting rights nationwide.

quote:

“We got it up to 48, but, of course, Sinema and Manchin voted no; that’s why we couldn’t change the rules. Well, they’re both gone,” Schumer told reporters here Tuesday during the week of the Democratic convention. “Ruben Gallego is for it, and we have 51. So even losing Manchin, we still have 50.”

quote:

At a separate Politico event Monday, Schumer specified that the two bills he’d try to pass under the rule change are the Freedom to Vote Act and the John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. He predicted there will be “consensus in my caucus to try and do that,” calling the two measures “very, very important.”

Anyone that believes that the dems aren't going to kill the filibuster the first chance they get are not paying attention to what they have already said and tried. They will kill the filibuster, and enact voting legislation that will cripple the GOP's chances of ever winning another federal election for the foreseeable future. And then they will drive this country into true authoritarian socialism/communism through legislation.

Too bad you can't ask Harry Reid how that turns out.

They could, but they would need 2/3 of the vote to do it because of, you know, the threat of a filibuster.

You only need 51 to kill the filibuster. That is how Harry Reid killed the filibuster for Presidential appointees and judges (outside of SCOTUS appointments), and Turtle killed the Filibuster for SCOTUS appointees.

none of this is true. dems currently trail the gop in favorability but it's nowhere near 25-30%. hell they have a 1 point lead in rasmussen's generic 2026 polling. and trump isn't sky high - more disapprove than approve by a mile
