DeSantis and Vance as VP would have swept in a new age of conservatism in the US. Common sense conservatism that knows how to get things done.

Instead we have BBB and policy done via Truth Social that changes every other day.

I've wanted someone like Trump my entire life to come in and really shake things up. But the only shaking I've seen going on is him floundering his presidency and the presidency in 2028 for Vance or whoever else away.

Downvote away. Hard truths from someone who voted for the guy.

Ron would be less effective against the uniparty than Trump is

No one can stop the entrenched establishment at this point. Just protect you and yours and that is about all you can do.

Trump isn't effective against it because he is disorganized and easily swayed.

He stumped for BBB. That wasn't thrown on him.

Doesn't seem like Trump is effective against the uniparty either.

A DeSantis/ Vance ticket would’ve given us a Harris/ Waltz administration.

I'm not convinced he would have beat Harris. "They're weird" never stuck because there's really nothing weird about Trump or Vance. It 100% would have stuck with Desantis because he fricking is weird. His policies are good to great, but his social mannerisms are just screwy.

Abject fantasy. If people wanted DeSantis, they would've turned out for him in the primary.

What, pray tell, does this even mean?

Are you rummaging through old political mailers and ran across this nugget of a phrase/campaign promise?

This is still a good point. I think he would have but I'm not 100% sure about that.

If it would have it would have been from self inflicted wounds because the Trump cult members who won't vote for anyone else would have stayed home.

When you look at the issues people voted on in 2024, those aren't things the Democrats were going to fix. Conservatives won on the issues in 2024 as much as anything else.

No one really knows about the real DeSantis, especially on the national level.

That fatalism is silly and unproductive. DeSantis is still a viable option for some future Presidential election (I would love to see him and Vance debate a few topics, I think it would be highly information-driven while also being more cordial and respectful).

100%

Trump had visibility with his Apprentice show and his rhetoric. Ron is a dorky yet very bright guy but that wouldn't have appealed to the people we needed.

If Kamala, who never got over like 1% of the vote in a single primary, can get as many votes as she did after a couple of months of being the candidate, I think DeSantis would have been plenty competitive enough in the general.

We won on the issues in 2024. Democrats weren't trusted on the economy or immigration. You don't get the kind of margin we got just from having a good candidate.
