Well, most commissaries suck arse... I thought AAFES owned the commissaries for the Army and Air Force bases? I think the NEX system owns the commissaries for the Naval Bases...

Correct. MCX for USMC.

Idk what this rep is talking about because there is a govt agency, defense commissary agency, who oversees them all. This is the first that I’ve heard of this and did a search with no results. Not saying Biden admin didn’t do anything stupid but it’s hard to believe that China is buying or owning anything on a base or commissary related.

I mean why not? We have already allowed the CCP to buy a shite ton of our farming. Might as well let them to continue to purchase whatever the hell they want to buy in the US.

FFS *ONLY* in America would we give our Geopolitical Foes unfettered access to assets on our mainland. But it's cool because we legally allow them full privilege to enjoy the benefits of our own laws and constitution here in America.

Of course if the idea was that America then in return should be allowed to purchase key assets, farms and lands next to their military bases in China they would laugh us out of the room and tell us to go frick ourselves!

In my experience soldiers don't go to the commissary anyways, mostly because most live off post.

How did we jump to sensitive info getting disclosed from grocery purchases?

We don't need them for stations in CONUS, anyway. Class 6, hell yes

With Amazon, even if you live overseas, there is almost nothing you can't get from your home country. I think there are 3 different British food stores in Katy alone. I mean, do we really need a PX because certain countries don't have Coke Light (Diet Coke) and instead only have Coke Zero? Grow up and order a case of Kraft Mac and Cheese if that's what you want to do.

In reality, they can buy all of this transaction data from civilian stores too, and it's quite easy to de-anonymize data given a few parameters. Remember when Target revealed a teen pregnancy before the girl's dad was told?

I think all the commissaries and exchanges are owned by the Department of Defense.,

Correct. When one man, Trump, gets blamed for everything the rest of the govt at all levels is scamming full steam.

I generally like Rep Burchett, but in this case, he has no idea what he’s talking about.

Commissaries differ from Exchanges and are administered by DECA, a governmental agency.

Eh, not really since AAFES charges a "surcharge" and also signed agreements with States not to sell certain items below the "taxed" prices like alcohol, tobacco, and gasoline many years ago...

You are mixing up the Exchanges and the commissaries. The commissaries switched over to DoD ownership back when I was in, in the early 90s. I don't know who would want to own the commissaries since by law they can not make a profit which is different from the Exchange system. I think the data mining approach is overblown for a number of reasons. The lack of profit is why most commissaries suck.

I would need to see some proof of this Chinese ownership, it doesn't make any sense.
