We already paid in when we were working. Did the simps in our Congress decide we had to keep paying it while those millionaires keep making more millions?

I am pissed. 95% of them should be eliminated.

I read somewhere last week that such a no-tax on social security benefits provision was disallowed by law in a reconciliation bill. So, the do-nothings were instead going with a provision that allows one to take a $4k deduction against their social security benefits. The $4k deduction was subject to phase out on higher income taxpayers and goes away after Trump is out of office. I don’t know if this is actually in the passed bill or not and we will have to wait and see what the fickle senate does.

No. You don't pay tax on FICA withholdings. The rationale for taxing SS payments is right there. I don't have to like it, but I understand why.

The GOPe will tell you, taxes on SS funds SS, while not voting to remove the fraud and waste DOGE found.

SS is a self licking ice cream cone, the moment you're eligible file for it.

SS was not allowed in the Big Beautiful Bill - I am not sure the reason why but it was not allowed due to some oversight BS or something like that - this will be a separate piece of legislation

It might be a separate piece of legislation, but it won’t pass. It would have to get 60 vote in the senate, and the Democrats will block it.

Promises made

Promises not kept

Becoming a pattern in this admin. Just like doge and elon going to cut 2 trillion a year in expenses. Instead we get 150 billion.

Not ever. All FICA withholdings are not taxed. When you look at your W2 statement you'll see gross wages and net wages. You are taxed on net wages.

Yes, I do remember hearing that now. I don’t think the parliamentarian would allow it in the budget bill. Republicans are using the Byrd Rule to pass the tax cuts and it limits what they can include in it.

Better call your realtor because I am taking your shitty ocean front property in Nebraska (such an original slogan by the way - I think your cool and original slogan is about as cool and original as "That wasn't on my BINGO card" slogan)

---

The "No Tax on Social Security" provision was not included in the "One Big Beautiful Bill" primarily due to the Byrd Rule, a Senate procedural rule established under the Congressional Budget Act of 1974.

This rule restricts what can be included in budget reconciliation bills, which are used to fast-track legislation by bypassing the usual 60-vote threshold in the Senate. Specifically, the Byrd Rule prohibits provisions that are deemed "extraneous" to the primary goal of budgetary reform, including changes to Social Security, as these are considered outside the scope of reconciliation.

Eliminating taxes on Social Security benefits would have violated the Byrd Rule, as it directly affects the Social Security trust fund, which is separate from the federal budget's general revenue.

They can’t do a tax change through reconciliation on SS. So they are giving 65 or older a tax credit if $4000 up to a certain limit. So a back door SS tax free method

You are correct. Many on our side of the aisle are perpetually unhappy. They find things to complain about instead of enjoying the wins we are getting. We’ll never get 100% of the agenda, but I’m thoroughly enjoying Trump’s second term. I wish it would last forever.

Great post! I am sick and tired of it. So many great things happening to our country that is going to reset the Communist takeover and these dumbasses want to nitpick every petty bullshite thing because they are mis-informed or have TDS - Meanwhile their party hid, lied and covered up a President that has full blown Cancer and Dementia... they are all ok with that though. No outrage at all about that except that Trump is mean and bad and bla bla bla whatever stupid fricking thing they throw up against the wall with their fake outrage hoaxes hoping it sticks for the day
